BB,

Thanks for the diagnostic test! I have been studying for over six months now and I thought I had the quantitative part down... but it looks like I have a lot of studying to do!

BB,

Thanks for the diagnostic test! I have been studying for over six months now and I thought I had the quantitative part down... but it looks like I have a lot of studying to do!

I hope we did not mess too much with your confidence
Our diagnostic test and gmat club tests do happen to be on the harder side, so perhaps you should see it as an opportunity to get to a higher score faster or as a motivation to reach higher ground rather than something that puts you down. The test was created to challenge you rather than make feel good (which is actually an important part of the process) - you just have to keep that in mind. I hope it is not too de-motivating. :beatup

Welcome to the "Best" Free GMAT Diagnostic Test - Evolving GMAT Club Community Project

Download the Test | Download the Answer Sheet

 Let's work together as a community to create world's best GMAT Diagnostic test by creating, refining, and improving diagnostic questions.

We have started this project with the Quant section to help GMAT test takers understand their weaknesses better. The test is free - please take it. If you have any questions or suggestions - post them here. Also, the idea of the test is to improve it based on the feedback of the community - here is how you can share your thoughts:
1. Rate questions using the STAR rating system - the ones that rank low will be gradually phased out
2. Provide verbal feedback by replying to this thread
3. Suggest question types to be included in this test - please provide examples if possible (we'll take care of creating the questions)
4. Finally - get others to take this test and provide their feedback

How to use the Diagnostic Test - The Diagnostic Test is setup to allow you to test you as thoroughly or as quickly as you would prefer. The questions are arranged in sections in an increasing difficulty order - the first question is always 600-650 level, mid question is 700 level, and the last question is 750 level. If you are in a hurry, you can take either all easy or medium, or all hard questions only. Instead of 45 questions, you can only take 15 and leave the rest for later.

Taking the test
You should spend a maximum of 90 minutes answering 45 questions or if you are taking fewer then plan to spend on average 2 minutes per question

Where are the questions from?
The questions have been developed by very experienced and high scoring GMAT Club members

Are the questions copyrighted?
Yes, but you can post and distribute them to benefit other test takers - please give credit to GMATClub for the hard work our members put into this test

BB,

Thanks for the diagnostic test... It really helped me to focus on my weak areas. Right now I am working through all of the Work/Rate problems that have been posted for extra practice and I am posting my solutions as I go.

Thanks again for this great post.

You are very welcome. Definitely utilize all the resources and be safe!
I believe you are the first applicant who is in Iraq (either on duty or a resident of) that I am aware of.

As it is hard to find real challenges in the usual GMAT learning materials, this is exceptionally valuable.

On what basis did you assign the GMAT score to the questions? I guess, it´s mostly by experience and a bit by rule of thumb!?

Anyway, I hope you can keep up your work. :!:

The score was "assigned" by a mutual consensus between several experts who worked on the test, so it is not anything scientific.
GMAT has the privilege of knowing the exact difficulty of every question by trial and error (experimental questions) - we do not, so we had to rely on our experience. As you can see, however, several questions are above/below the level they are posted and that revision is coming.

This test is a community project, so if you feel some of the questions are too easy or too hard - please post that in each of the questions - we'll take it into consideration for the next revision and yes, feel free to criticize the heck out of it :)

Thank you :).

Developing a Verbal Diagnistic Test is a harder task but it's definitely on the list of things to do.

BTW, welcome to GMAT Club!

The test was created to challenge you rather than make feel good (which is actually an important part of the process) - you just have to keep that in mind. I hope it is not too de-motivating. :beatup

That was really challenging :| Well, at least I know on what to work next.... (currently solving additional practice questions)
