Has the algorithm changed for official GMAT test as well??
That was the GMAT classic algorithm in 2023.

The gym at focus edition has a slightly different algorithm and approach. The first few questions are not overly impactful

Here when the last 6 questions were attempted incorrectly, it resulted in a higher drop compared to the other two scenarios. Is this a pattern observed in FE as well? Because i think a lot of test takers who might be struggling with timing would end up having higher number of mistakes in the last few questions...

@hr1212 @bb I have a query. I recently gave a DI sectional test. I attempted all 20 questions, had 16 correct answers and 4 incorrect answers (all incorrect were medium level questions). My 1st and 3rd ans were wrong.. but i picked up in all remaining questions and got 2 more incorrect answers in the remaining; with the last incorrect ans being the last question of test.
However, I got a score of 77.. I understand there can be a score drop if I do 1st question wrong but I dont understand how one could get 77 in actual GMAT.. I believe someone would atleast score 80 in actual GMAT with this pattern.

Is there any issue in the enhanced algorithm? Is anything being worked out on it so that we could see a bit accurate scoring going forward?

Thank you in advance
Yes, currently there is a limitation on the question picking algorithm which refuses to give you more hard questions in certain cases including when you have mistakes early on. So this is not correct behavior. Working on fixing this by Friday. Your score should be higher but unfortunately the system calculated it correctly but because it only gave you limited difficulty the score is actually incorrect. Not sure if that makes any logical sense 😂

Thank you BB & Team, BB I’m relatively new in gmat journey and doesn’t have any expertise to share my opinion on this but as a user of gmat club I would like to share my thoughts (Very personal opinion on tweaking the Algo) - I feel like if Gmat club mocks would be little tougher side compare to official GMAT prep mock it would be good as I heard from others sometime the actual exam is little bit hard or seems to be hard because of exam pressure so it would be good idea if we take the exam pressure in account when tweaking the algo it would be more helpful I feel so. Thanks for all your efforts !

In Quants, in one test I got 3 ques worng and got 81 score and in another sectional, I got 8 wrong and got 80 points, I dont understand - Is it I should just make sure I dont do any mistakes early and if later we still do mistakes, we can anyway score higher or is it to maximize the number of correct questions that get higher score ? anyone has any idea ?

Hi. No. Don’t worry about mistakes early on. They don’t matter where they shouldn’t matter much. This is just a side effect which should be addressed within the next 24 hours. This has to do with choosing questions and in some cases the algorithm decides to stop giving you hard questions and it took a little while to diagnose it because it’s a very very complicated machine but it’s kind of a black box in the middle. set tearing apart the black box takes an annoying amount of time 🥴
