Dear all,

The camera of the computer has to show the whiteboard while we are doing the test, or just at the beginning and at the end of the test?
Usually Desktop computers do no have enough angle to show your face and your desktop at the same time.

Kind regards

Odd. My reply got lost somewhere. Your camera does not need to show your whiteboards. It’ll only show your face and your eyes. You will need to show the whiteboard before and after the test however.

I am slightly concerned about the mobile part. It is mentioned that you can keep away from arm's reach. Question is do I keep it on silent or on? The proctor may or may not contact me. So if I keep on silent I may miss the call but if I keep it on, I may get random notification or something which may disrupt the exam.

bb what do you say wil be a good go between?

You do not need your phone. Put it away after taking the pictures of your environment. Pretty basic rule. Nobody is going to be calling you during your test. If the proctor needs to call you, they will call you through the computer. If the proctor cannot reach through the computer then you have a lot more to worry about than where your phone.

Hi, I've seen a few contrary inputs on the following two questions related to Online GMAT. It would be great if somebody can provide their input on the same:

1. Is it okay if the back-side of the physical whiteboard is dark green/ black?

2. The study table I am plan to give the exam on,has drawers (which will be closed). Is this a cause of concern ?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I did face this difficulty. Nobody contacted me on OnVUE and I realized later that I had 2 missed calls.
Basically, it seemed clear that, if the proctor was not able make contact within 15mins from start time, he wouldn't conduct the exam.
My advice would be to keep the phone in front of you till you make contact with the proctor/ you see the instructiom screen for the exam.
Once you do either of these, you can throw the phone away!

Hey vinitgianchandani

vinitgianchandani
Is it okay if the back-side of the physical whiteboard is dark green/ black?

This should be okay as technically speaking the GMAC only highlighted about the background of the whiteboard and nothing about the back side in specific.
Moreover you will have to show both the sides of the board to begin with so I think you should be good. If you still have doubts over this you can surely raise an enquiry ticket to GMAC and take a confirmation from them as well. :)

vinitgianchandani
The study table I am plan to give the exam on,has drawers (which will be closed). Is this a cause of concern ?

No this should not be a problem. If during the exam you only face the camera or work on the board while answering the questions you should be good. If any sudden unwanted movement is caught that is when the proctors wake up ;)

vinitgianchandani
Can we use phone WiFi for internet?

I think here you are asking about the Mobile hotspot. Although GMAC has specially come out to say to avoid (or has prohibited altogether, not sure on that) this method of connecting to the net in particular, but the question comes, how will they know ??
So if you want you can definitely use, but on the personal front I would not recommend as they can be , in my experience, spotty at times. And if the internet goes off by chance, more than the exam coming back online you will create an addiditonal mental stress on an already stressful exam. And then stress, as we know, can make things go awry :(
If you can connect with a better way to the internet, I would seriously urge you to. :)

Thank you for your inputs.

Could you also explain the physical whiteboard background requirement?
My whiteboard has a regular silver metallic border, of approximately 1 inch width. That wouldn't be a problem right ?

Hi vinitgianchandani,

I think the problem is the protocol (is that the term?) that mobile internet connections use. Both the speed and the quality of the connection are not as good, and IP addresses can change. Just check whether you're getting speeds that will allow you to continue sending video.

Because your connection is not very likely to drop (continuous use), I don't think your IP will change, and Pearson will probably not say that this is a security issue either, because of the video feed.

For me, At the time of registration, an email with this subject came:
Confirmation of Pearson VUE Exam Appointment

Before 1 day of the exam, there was another email with this subject: Reminder for your online proctored exam: action needed

I had booked the exam on 10th June, for 1st Jul.

Hope it helps.
