Do you guys think re-takes will be allowed eventually? I was going to register for an online exam before UCLA's first deadline (October 2nd) but I'm kind of apprehensive that I might end up not scoring well enough.

I'd be willing to retake in person (with masks and all) but unfortunately, the test center close to me does not have an available date until December 21st. Even the one that's 50+ miles away is also not available until the end of December...

I wonder if the online exam will ever permit it, or if that's something they won't consider. A part of me is also wondering if I should register for the exam before the second deadline instead?

I believe that sooner or later retakes will be allowed... as not allowing them (contrary to GRE) is a resctriction to make more money for the company....
IMO soon retakes will be allowed...

I believe retakes will be allowed eventually if online is the only option available for taking GMAT till the end of the year.
Since you have some time before deadline, you can wait for some more time to hear from GMAC also keep an eye on available appointments before your deadline.

Until then keep preparing without losing focus, thats the only thing in our control.

All the best

In my case... I would have already sit for the exam several times since the quarantine started in my country (since march), but as I believe, if Im gonna shoot, then It must be a headshot as I have one bullet....

Imagine that multiplied several times..... (as a lot of people are in the same situation). I guess GMAC is losing a lot of money because of not allowing the retakes... So expect to see the retakes allowed soon

Hello,

Today I gave my GMAT online test. Everything went well in the system test. Then I started the actual exam but when I clicked on begin test a pop up opened on my firewall asking for access.

Since the laptop belongs to some one else, I called him to ask for the password before I give the permission. All this took hardly 20 seconds and by the time I returned my exam was revoked.

All I want to know is if it counts as a technical glitch. Given that the system test didn't help in making sure I had the proper environment before I went into the test, I believe it's a glitch.

Request some advice on how I take it up with GMAT.

Also tell me if I have a valid point and am eligible for retest.

Looks like a violation of rules. You cannot speak or get up once the test has started. You are expected to know the credentials of the system you are using.
Hope for the best though!

I understand but isn't it that the application should not ask for any firewall permissions in the actual test. Isn't it that the whole purpose of the system test is to make sure all adequate permissions are taken prior to the test ?

Probably can help you with your case, but considering that someone who wishes to cheat can exploit this loophole I am really not convinced.

Can you double check if running the current version of the pearsonVue system check software does not ask for any permission?

Yes I did. It didn't ask any such permissions. I have also seen a post where someone wanted to take a break after this quant and verbal. Since the proctor didn't respond, he left the room and his exam was revoked too. But GMAT let him retest.

Albeit on different lines, I believe if that case was permissible, mine should be too.

And I don't think I have stated this before, I never even went to the exam screen. It all happened even before I can click the first button on the interface.

Hi, is it ok if I read the questions out loud once in a while during the exam? Especially RC and CR.

This happened to me as well. System check passed and then just before starting the exam it tole me that it wants track my keyboard inputs and my Mac wanted me to allow this specifically in settings, post which I would have to restart the application which was granted permission. I just ignored that ask hoping that it wouldn't be a problem. And it was all ok.
In your case, you are completely right in expecting the system test to check for all necessary permissions for that software. If the software needed some settings or permissions then the system test should have asked for it.

I have drafted the following reasons as the bad experience on the test.

1. The online test experience, unlike the Test center exam experience, is not constant. Proctor notified me about the exam start in the past online exam, but did not notify me of any such thing in this exam.
2. The system test is not completely adequate. It does not take all the permission necessarily when run before the actual test. Sometimes the anti-virus creates issues that need to be resolved and this is the reason for my exam getting revoked today. I am ready to disable my virus but I would have done so in the event that I was notified of such things in the test run.
3. There is a huge lag between the time you need proctor support and the time you actually get the support. This lag can lead to a situation that can cause issues like it did for me. In my case I clicked on the chat button multiple times before I had to do what I did to prevent my laptop from restarting.
4. There is no transparency on how I was notified that I was doing a mistake because in reality I did not get any such communication. The only time I was communicated is when the proctor revoked my test.

Would this be enough to put forth my case?

No you can’t read out loud. Proctors will ask you to stay quiet.

I tend to mouth words aloud, barely audible, and barely moving my lips more than a cm. I know it depends on the proctor but has that been dinged in the past?

Has anyone taken the online GMAT and had delays in receiving their scores? It's been a week since I took my online exam and I'm not quite sure if notifying GMAC (email/phone) will expedite the process.
