If I live by myself, is it possible to take the online GMAT in my living room or do I need to take it in a room with a closed door? If it needs to be in a room, are mirrors allowed? My closet has sliding mirror doors so wondering whether I need to cover those.

Hello,

Today I gave my GMAT online test. Everything went well in the system test. Then I started the actual exam but when I clicked on begin test a pop up opened on my firewall asking for access.

Since the laptop belongs to some one else, I called him to ask for the password before I give the permission. All this took hardly 20 seconds and by the time I returned my exam was revoked.

All I want to know is if it counts as a technical glitch. Given that the system test didn't help in making sure I had the proper environment before I went into the test, I believe it's a glitch.

Request some advice on how I take it up with GMAT.

Also tell me if I have a valid point and am eligible for retest.

Hi ,

I have a question here, did you or did you not use a laptop the belongs to a corporate organisation? If it does then in that case there might be specifice firewall settings that one cannot change. In case you used a laptop provided by a corporate company - could you metion the organisation's name?

Hi all, is it ok to take an informal break if i end up saving 4-5 mins in the Quant section? I was thinking of just taking my time to answer the last question if it comes to that. What do y'all think of this?

Yes, I had 8 minutes left on my quant section and I used that time to get my minds together for the verbal section.

Hi bb
Gmac mentions that
"Pearson VUE Test centers in the country you currently reside must be closed due to COVID-19 (coronavirus)" in the Policies and Procedures for Gmat Online under the "Before Your Exam
Step 1. Gather Information" section
But most of the test centres in my city are already open. Will i not be able to take the online gmat?

It doesn't matter whether centres are open or not.
Anyone can give GMAT online from anywhere.

ymba2020 Yes, great idea! An informal break is very helpful, and it's great that you are strong on Quant and have a good opportunity to do this.

In my long debrief/tips post, I suggested:

• Use any downtime productively. There are 30 seconds of instructions between quant and verbal, and if you finish early on quant, take the extra time to rest and prepare for verbal; I recommend mantras, deep breathing, and moving your body a bit -- I've seen research that movement is great for mental function, so it's a good habit in general when you're training. You don't have to confirm the final question. I had 6 extra minutes, so I closed my eyes and stretched my arms up and to the sides, and moved my legs and ankles.
• I can easily lose focus without proactive steps to prevent this. Other debriefs mentioned that fatigue can be a factor without a break, and precise reading is essential on verbal, so it's helpful to ask yourself, how can you proactively energize yourself and refocus when you feel fatigue or distraction?
First, I have a mantra that sounds silly but helps me -- I smile and say to myself passionately, "I energize and uplift myself on command!". If you mentally laugh at yourself a little, even better -- it relieves tension.
Second, partly inspired by chess players, I lean forward towards the screen, and it noticeably improves my attention.

Hey thank you for sharing those tips. I am going to check out those resources.

Interesting. I have been checking mba.com on a daily basis (almost) to check if/when they will extend the Aug 14th deadline. They have not extended it, but they have removed the date from their pages and they have removed the entire FAQ page. WTH?

Example: https://www.mba.com/frequently-asked-qu ... nline-exam
Been moved here: https://www.mba.com/frequently-asked-qu ... nline-exam - did you really have to rename it? Well... they renamed it and took the Aug 14th date out.

Just seems silly and unnecessarily fluid.... probably would be time better spent if they explained their proctor policies and addressed the whiteboard questions

What are the chances that they will allow a second attempt at GMAT Online along with a break between quant and verbal?

Thanks

Gagan

I agree. got exactly the same score but verbal went down from V40-42 in my official mocks to V33. Quant went great (50).

As suspected, it doesn't make any sense for GMAC to extend the Online exam without giving out retakes. Hopeful for an announcement sometime in August.

If there is one lesson we have learned from the online whiteboard vs. physical whiteboard debacle, it's that GMAC is not immune to pressure ("feedback") from its customers.

Keep on calling, emailing, asking and petitioning GMAC for a retake option on the GMAT Online, and it will most likely happen sooner or later. The same goes for the ESR (Enhanced Score Report) option, which for some reason is still not offered for the online exam.

GMAC has never been known to turn down an opportunity to make more money, so your chances are good. ;)

In the meantime, keep checking this official link for updates or changes: https://www.mba.com/frequently-asked-qu ... #question3

Hi All,

I do not intend to apply for admissions this year but I do intend to take the GMAT Online. Does anyone know if B-schools would accept GMAT online scores for 5 years just like normal GMAT Test?
