Re: GMAT Online - What We Know [Master Topic] [#permalink]
I have my online exam tomorrow and had a few last-minute doubts.

  • Since I keep the whiteboard to the left of the laptop, I would be constantly looking away from the computer(or turning my head). Is this ok? Or should I keep the whiteboard in front of the laptop so that I look down? Please let me know what you did.
  • I tend to play around with the marker or shift around in my chair while I am thinking. Is this allowed? This sounds silly but I read that a student was warned for covering his mouth(he was probably propping his chin with his hands - I also tend to do that).

The ones who have already taken the exam, please give your inputs. Also, any other advice or tips would be appreciated.

Yes, a simple advice would be to avoid any unnecessary suspicious activity that may raise red flags. Try to not look away from screen and board- so keep the board as much in sight as possible and not out of sight. Murmuring is also not appreciated. Understand from proctor's perspective. Anything in your own home environment that could raise suspicion. Also be wary of making unwanted noises. Good luck!

Stretching a lil bit, and normal face gestures or flipping of markers etc shouldn't be a problem, as long as you are not out of frame.

Thanks in advance.

How does the photo upload process work during check in for online GMAT ? Can you transfer the photos from your phone using google drive and you use the drive ( if allowed to open ) to upload ? Or should it be a physical USB connection from you phone to your PC to upload your photos ?

A link is sent to your mobile number. Once you access the link through your phone, it walks you through the process of taking photos of your room and of your ID. This is part of the candidate check-in process.

All the best.

Hello! May sound like a layman question- do we include the day of the test in the 16 day time period that's needed for a retake??

Thanks in advance!

It starts from the next day of the test.

Thanks

Gagan

Hit Kudos if u like!!!

Further, GMAC would not let you book a test within that period. So, one quick check can also be trying to book a slot within that time period. If GMAC allows, you should be good to go.

I did all of them except for covering my mouth and the proctor never ever bothered me. Even if the proctor bothers you, I don't think It's going to ruin your gmat score. I would not overthink about that. The proctor once bothered me because I wrongly clicked asking for help (I didn't want help).

Instructions advise I get to the testing center 30 min early. However, I have a 6:30am test. Do you think that's really necessary?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Logo,

Usually, the check-in process takes 10 mins. So, if you have a high risk-tolerance quotient, you still should reach 15 mins before your exam slot. Earlier the better to account for other contingencies.

Hello,

Today I have received a GMAT online voucher from Pearson for a failed GMAT attempt of mine. However I am curious as to whether I can use this voucher for a center based test. Any leads would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey, a few more questions. Is the test environment something you download and run similar to the System check? Or a browser based testing?

In my case, I uploaded the photos through my cellphone in a browser and then the proctor asked me to show him the environment via my macbook camera... (using the app of pearson..)

The AI system and the proctor will look for unusual patterns. If you are constantly looking in the same way at the whiteboard, whether it is located to your side or to your front, that should not be a problem. If, otoh, you are occasionally looking in a new direction that is not normal for you, you may be flagged.

Normal repetitive looking in the same pattern should be okay. Avoid unusual behavior.

Hi Avinash4448,

No, you can't. (I also tried this myself!)

Gotcha. But is this info something you know for a fact or something assumed spread without any real proof?
