I'm chancing two pages, though I only have 6 years experience. In the time since graduating with my M.S. I have been a rocket scientist, led the R&D budgeting process and envisioned/implemented an entirely new collaboration system for promoting innovation in a large company, started my own technical consulting firm, and moved to key position in a Google-backed cleantech startup.

My extracurriculars are pale in comparison to my work achievements and I think my resume is my best bet and making up for that gap. I got it down to one page, but it lost a LOT of impact when I did. We'll know if the second page was a mistake in a few weeks...

I think you should definitely have all post-college employers on there - don't want to show a gap in work experience. Would be very confusing for the adcom, especially because the online app only has space for 3 employers. If this requires you to use 2 pages, so be it. I don't think you HAVE to have college jobs on there, but if you're going onto 2 pages anyway, might as well use the space. Again, just my $0.02.

This is strictly my opinion, but I would go for the two pages then, since HBS explicitly allows you that option.

Not to insult others who stuck with the 1 page resume, but since the essays and forms for extracurricular are already pretty slim, I would capitalize on the two page resumes. I doubt a ding would result solely because someone decided to go with a two pager. It's all about the content. If you have achievements that are relevant or perhaps extenuating circumstances that may confuse or cause concern for adcom, then you have the opportunity to clear it up via the resume.

I know multiple people who got into HBS last year using a 2-page resume even though they only had 4-5 years exp (obviously those with 10+ years exp, or PhDs with significant research, would be easily justified using a 2-pager). So clearly it isn't an automatic ding. BUT, Dee specifically recommended using a 1-pager, so that is obviously their preference. Also, for most of us, going onto 2 pages will force us to use less and less impressive content as we fill up that second page. I believe it is more about quality than quantity. I want the adcom to read my 1-pager, which is jam-packed with "great" content, and come away impressed. I'm worried that if I used a second page, my "great" content would be diluted by simply "good" content, which is the filler I'm using to populate two full pages. So the adcom's overall impression would be lower, even though I have more content. Also, I don't want to be seen as a resume-stuffer ... any of us who have recruited for our current employers know what that looks like.

Finally, while this is probably personal preference, I strongly believe that if you're going to use 2 pages, you have to use the full 2 pages. I don't think it is considered professionally appropriate/standard to use only 1.25 or 1.5 pages. What are others' thoughts on this?

Trivial question, but what did you guys put for your company's "main office line" and website in the employment section? Did you use a specific employment verification number (assuming that is how your company verifies employment) or just your personal office number and the company's general home page? Wharton's app specifically asks for the verification hotline number plus gives space for a code to access it. Almost finished!

Anyone else having trouble pasting text into the text boxes within the application? All of the text boxes for short responses (e.g. "How does pursuing an MBA support your choices above?") don't allow me to paste data in. I've tried Chrome and IE on multiple computer and no luck. This would be really annoying if I had to retype my whole response by hand.

The character count includes blank spaces. If you are trying to copy in more than the allowed characters, it doesnt do anything. I was fighting with that, too.

On a different trivial question, for our unoffical transcripts do they seriously want us to print, scan, then save as a pdf, after inserting the image into a word doc?? Seems awfully roundabout....

No, it's not that. I can't paste ANYTHING into the box. Even a single character. Is this only me?

For the transcripts I just scanned them directly to PDF, that was it.

For people w/ issues pasting. I had trouble with that too, and even sometimes my employment data wouldn't save.

I tried all browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari) and I found IE worked for me.

Wow. How is everyone feeling? Less than 24 hours before I plan to hit submit. Giving everything another pass tomorrow, from start to finish as a whole package. Have to make sure I didn’t miss a common theme or have an orphaned thought eating up precious word count that was left over from a previous essay revision (found one of those bastards yesterday...)

Forced to wait anyways…a recommender asked if he could do one more revision before he submits because he didnt like how one answer sounds, so I gave him till tonight…gulp. Killing me here!

I found that it worked with Firefox on Mac OS X, but not Chrome on Mac OS X, or Chrome and IE on Windows 7. I'm shocked by how bad the applyourself applications are. Considering re-writing my "Tell us about something you did well" question about the time I conquered their poorly programmed online application...

Hi everyone, good luck to you all!

I'm a current student and I remember how difficult the wait is after you submit your application. The gmatclub chat was a great way to pass the time and share my anxiety with my fellow applicants. I'll try to read this thread from time to time, but if you ever want to talk, you'll almost always find me in the chat room.
