Hello everyone! I submitted my application for Jan 2025 intake during Feb 12 deadline. Adcom has asked me to retake my GMAT (it’s 680).
Q:44, V:39. I did explain in additional details section that i scored Q48 in my previous attempts and have excellent GPA in undergrad and Masters especially in quantitative subjects.

Unfortunately i have finished all possible attempts for the rolling year. Anyone has experience with this retake suggestion from HEC?

Hey Maddy1621,

Firstly, I am really sorry that you didn't get into your target B-schools. I find that your GMAT is OK. What I would suggest is before going for a re-attempt, make sure other factors are good enough to cover up for the average GMAT score. Working on each aspect of your business school application will be very important. Make sure to add stellar leadership moments, steering your team in the right direction and overseeing its successful completion. Highlighting such impactful experiences in your resume can effectively help mitigate the impact of your GMAT score. You can go into more responsibilities beyond your primary role and add any details on additional coursework and certifications related to subjects based on the GMAT syllabus, like stats, accounting, maths, economics, or calculus, just as you have highlighted that you scored Q48 in previous attempts. Your Goal is to make every effort that can contribute to diverting attention from your GMAT score.

Another crucial aspect would be explaining your GMAT score in your B-school essays! Make sure to illustrate how an average score doesn't reflect your academic prowess and portray a clear understanding of what excites you about the B-school and why they should accept you as an engaging, dynamic, crucial person to their program who can enhance your peers' learning experiences in ways beyond normal imagination. Also, make sure to leave no opportunity if any of your target B-schools offer an optional essay allowing additional information. Seize this chance to address the situation regarding your GMAT score thoroughly, any obstacles that prevented you from having more time to study for the exam, and any additional supplementary coursework you have done that helped you grow since you took your GMAT. All of this will help you assure the adcom that you are a good fit for their program.

Lastly, here is a list of [url=https://www.mim-essay.com/business-schools-gmat-and-gre-score#:~:text=passed%20the%20GMAT-,GMAT%20cut%2Doff%20scores%20for%20the%20top%20100%20management%20schools%20worldwide,-The%20United%20Stateshttps://www.mim-essay.com/business-schools-gmat-and-gre-score#:~:text=passed%20the%20GMAT-,GMAT%20cut%2Doff%20scores%20for%20the%20top%20100%20management%20schools%20worldwide,-The%20United%20States]B-schools that accept candidates with a low GMAT score[/url]. Make sure to add some of them to your list as backup B-schools! I hope this helps! :)

Maddy1621 - I would suggest scheduling a call with AdCom to understand their concern (i.e. is it only the GMAT or also other angles of the profile), and explain to them reg. your GMAT attempts.

Broadly, also aim to highlight your work-experiences (beyond your Acads/ GMAT) where you used quantitative analysis (e.g. Excel models). This can speak to recent Quantitative abilities.

If they still request a retake, perhaps consider switching to GRE (if your GMAT attempts are exhausted): I've seen several candidates switch and do well: taking a mock can help assess your ability. Ofcourse this would require some preparations, which would have to be factored in.

Arvind

Anybody faced any issue with application fee payment via Visa Credit Card ? The system says authenticate card, while International payments already activated, bank has confirmed.

The system doesn't accept American Express card either.
