I think you should stick to the popular tests. Your 3 hours doing a test that may not add much to you is very valuable.

Hi thietkerem,

The scoring algorithm on the Official GMAT is far more complicated than most people realize. Since that algorithm is proprietary, no GMAT company has an exact match for it, thus CAT scores can vary a bit based on the 'biases' involved in their respective designs. The most realistic CATs available are the 6 from GMAC (the 2 free CATs, and each of the 2 that come with Exam Pack 1 and Exam Pack 2), but retaking a CAT that you've already taken is NOT a realistic way to assess your skills. Seeing even a few 'repeat' questions can 'throw off' the Scoring Algorithm and impact your pacing, energy levels, fatigue, etc. (meaning that they would likely all appear to be better than they normally would be). Thankfully, the CATs from Kaplan, MGMAT and Veritas are all 'close enough' to the real thing that they will provide you with a relatively realistic score assessment (assuming that you correctly take the CAT in a realistic fashion).

While there are certain aspects to Test Day that you can really only train for by taking realistic, FULL-LENGTH CATs under nestlike conditions, once you've learned those things, it's important to remember that taking lots of CATs will NOT make you a better Test Taker. A CAT is really a 'measuring device' - when used correctly, it will give you a realistic score and help define your strengths and weaknesses, but it will NOT help you to fix any of those weaknesses. To raise your scores, you have to learn the necessary Tactics and put in the proper practice and repetitions. The CAT will show you whether your studies are helping you to improve or not. As such, you really shouldn't take more than 1 FULL CAT per week - and if you're far from your Score Goal, then you might want to take a CAT every 2-3 weeks.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs/mocks (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Contrary to other people experiences, I found 800score.com a very useful practice test. The quant may be a little on the tougher side but practicing tough questions makes life easy in real exam. Also the graphical analysis of results has been quite helpful in fine tuning my pace of approaching the exam

The Quant section is more difficult than the actual Gmat.

Hi thietkerem,

Have you taken any official GMAC practice exams? If so, how did you score? What is your GMAT score goal and when is your actual GMAT?

They are not good. I’d rather you practice from more reliable sources like manhattan, veritas and of course OG
