Hi.
I've preparing for GMAT for a couple months now using Jamboree material and
the official guide. I attempted a few mocks recently.
Below are my scores:
Jamboree mock - 710 (Q47-49, V35-37)
GMAT Prep 1 - 690 (Q47 ,V38) - I wasn't able to attempt 5 questions in quant in this.
This score disheartened me since I'm planning on taking the GMAT in mid May and my target score is 750.
Now, I have been practising more questions for the past two weeks and took another Jamboree mock and scored 730(Q48-50,37-39).
I'm not sure whether the Jamboree scores are a real representation of the level of preparation I have right now.
Correct questions:
Jamboree tests - Verbal - ~30/36; Quant - ~27/31
GMAT Prep - Verbal - 24/36; Quant - 24/31
Any recommendations on which tests I should try out to get a good idea? And any idea about the level of Jamboree tests? I have around 20 days left for the exam.
Thanks.
Hi vanshikamunjal,
Practicing questions and taking mocks is never the solution to improve your score. Instead, try to understand what's going wrong and why are you making the mistake. Once you understand your weak areas and work on them, you will start seeing the results.
And working on weak areas can include two things:
- Revisiting the concepts - You do this when you have a few conceptual gaps
- Going through the detailed solutions of the questions - You do this when you are clear with the concepts but are struggling with their application
I think you need to focus on the second case. Understand the exact step at which you are making the mistake and try to work on that. For example, solving SC questions can include a lot of steps such as:
- Reading the sentence
- Comprehension
- Identifying errors
- Eliminating answer choices
Understand at which step you are making the mistake and try to work on the process. That will help you improve your score. Having said that, I can help you in a better way if you can provide me a few more details such as:
- your weak areas
- your approach of solving questions
