1] y is positive
statement 1 alone is not sufficient.
y has multiple solutions.

2] x is an integer
x=10 y^4=5
x=1 y^4=5000
statement 2 is not suffcient

combined
not suffcient.

Agree with C if statement 2 is "y is positive integer'

Here statement 2 is "y is positive"
So E is the answer.

Yup, I noticed.

That should be a typo.

I don't see any answer choices: ex) A, B, C, D, E. Where are they coming from?

THE QUESTION IN ITS ENTIRITY IS AS UNDER:

1] y is positive
2] x is an integer

If x^3y^4 = 5000, what is the value of y?

1] y is positive
2] x is an integer

A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

The answer choices are typically taken for granted here in gmatclub.

Thank you Tiger.

Also, I need clarity with this question. Does the question state:

A) x^3 times y^4

or

B) x to the 3y power to the 4th power?

This one is correct.

Thanks again. Looking at it as B makes it much more confusing.
