In an effort to reduce their overstock, many fashion designers have cut prices; their clothes have been priced to sell, and they are.

A) have been priced to sell, and they are
B) are priced to sell, and they have
C) are priced to sell, and they do
D) are being priced to sell, and have
E) had been priced to sell, and they have

Could you please explain your choice? I am really confused with the second part of the sentence and do not know how to solove it.

Sell is omitted. Now replace options with sell

A) have been priced to sell, and they are SELL
B) are priced to sell, and they have-SELL
C) are priced to sell, and they do SELL - only this makes sense. :-D
D) are being priced to sell, and have SELL
E) had been priced to sell, and they have SELL

C has the correct construction. are priced to sell and they do sell.. here sell is optional as the meaning is clear without sell..

There are two tags for this question: OG and Kaplan.

I feel this is from Kaplan since OG one talks about brewers.
