Tough and Tricky questions: Geometry.

In the figure above, what is the area of the circular region with center O ?

(1) MN is perpendicular to RS.
(2) The area of triangular region OMT is 4.

Kudos for a correct solution.

1. Obviously insufficient since we dont know exact lengths .Insuffice..

2. We cant determine radius of circle just by area of a triangle. Insuffice.

1+2>> we have (1/2)*OM*OT=4 ;OM=r but we dont know length of OT to detemine R.Hence Insufficeint

To find the area of circle, we need to know the radius or OM or ON or OS or OR..

st1 MN perpendicular to RS...Does not help

st 2 says OM*OT=8...does not help

Combining we get..nothing new...

S(1): Helps us understand MOT is a right angled but no information about lengths. So area cannot be calculated. Not suff.
S(2): Gives area of the triangle using which we cannot calculate radius(OM). Hence Not suff.

Combining we get that MOT is a right angled Triangle hence 1/2*OM*OT=4. Using this we cannot calculate OM value. Thus insufficient.

Hence answer is E. Not sure how it is D. Would love to read the solution for this.
