bb10 thank you so much for mentioning that. I'm sure this will give hope to many. Did you ever get a ding analysis? I have to say every time I do one of those it is 100% obvious to me why they did not get in. I would recommend it before reapplying.

Hello, Shylard, welcome welcome welcome. Sounds like a very exciting plan to quit your job in the US as a finance regulator and do something completely different in Europe. That is awesome. What are you going for? people think that they need an internship to switch into management consulting but at Insead you can completely do that without one.

https://MBAPrepCoach.com

I’m going to break into PE/VC for social impact businesses. Given I’m all about regulations...thinking I may need an internship to help me get in the door. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi Shylard, sorry for the delay, for some reason, I dont get all the notifications for this thread, its some weird algorithm at GC. yes, agreed on internship. fingers crossed INSEAD. start making contact with people in PE associate jobs to pick their brain on questions that might help you with goal and fit essays.

How's everybody doing? Only one short week and it will be February 1st....
6 weeks away from the deadline. So I certainly hope everybody is in full swing with outlining essays, developing rec talking points, having deep and candid conversations with your recommenders, and creating greater impact in your CV bullets.

For most applicants, especially those who have not done any formal self-reflection, the Strengths & Weaknesses essay is the most challenging. It will take some time to identify and develop your main ideas. And for that reason, is a good place to start.

This will help: https://mbaessaycoaching.com/2017/04/03/approaching-insead-strengths-and-weaknesses-essay/

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has ever left a college they had started studying in after the Insead results came out. Does it leave a bad impression or something?

The INSEAD R1 results come out in May. But a few other B Schools start their academic session in April. So if I start studying at one of those and leave the school if I happen to get an admit of insead, will it be frowned upon?

I can see where you're coming from, but you will either be admitted or denied at INSEAD based on the merits of previous activities, nothing to do with attending Business School elsewhere. If you are willing to walk away from having invested 8 months at another school, I don't think THIS should stop you from applying. The only thing is you're going to need to account for that time so you might want to consider having some kind of a side activity or something like some type of volunteer situation that could be a space filler. Like have some other reason for being in Madrid. But even if that's not possible I would go for it. Ideally you would apply for the lower priority program after and not before, but if that's impossible I think if you're willing to take on the financial/time consequences, no one will look down on you for switching to a far better school. More to the point I don't think you should hold yourself hostage to the potential opinions of others at the expense of doing what is right for yourself.

Working on the essays and GMAT prep over here. Aiming for round 2 (May 2nd).
Wrt the Essays still struggling a bit in finding the "common denominator" that has defined me as a person. Any tips in structuring these thoughts?

Hello! I have to be honest that is actually one of the biggest areas where I as a consultant add value for my clients because I'm able to frame their experiences in a way where I can see what's common, to understand their "brand". It's difficult but if you're not able to work with someone I would recommend that you find the most insightful best listener in your group of friends, then start with describing your experiences from your resume. Talk about the stories of what you're proud of, just really have a dialogue with them about it. Because it captures many areas of your life when you flesh things out for that person, they might start to see some similarities.

At the same time I highly recommend that you do 360 reach, it is survey that you send out to many different people from childhood friends to dotted line supervisors. It's free for 15 days and the results you get back might help put some things together, it's also kind of fun.

My last recommendation would be to query *what are my values* it's a Mind Tools exercise.

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is doing well. I am a 26 year old Indian candidate, hoping to apply to INSEAD for Jan 2019 in the round 1 of intakes.

I am working on my essays right now, and have revised them atleast 4 times as of now. I have a question - I feel that my essays don't completely portray my international experiences or motivation. Can the optional essays be used for this?
