Dear all,

is there any update on the J12 Intake-R1 nationality profile from MBA Connect?

It would be really interesting to see the geographic distribution of the admitted candidates for J12 intake who applied in R1.

I'm from Italy and I'm literally grilling!! Can't wait for that +33...phone call!

All the best from Milano!

I just completed my second interview. After the interview my interviewer informed me that in the application form I had submitted to her, the values of current country of residence and country of birth were wrong. Both those fields were showing one value above the actual value. For instance, my country of birth was mentioned as Iceland instead of India in the form she had printed. I was surprised and apologized. However when I came back and checked the form I had send her, both the fields were showing correct values. Hence I guess it was a problem with her acrobat reader or something. My interviewer had also contacted INSEAD to verify my correct country?
DId anyone else face a similar problem and should I inform interviewer and/or INSEAD that there was a discrepancy at interviewers end?

Bonjour,
This also was my problem. I drafted the application form in Windows XP Pro and when opened in in Mac OS - new version of Adobe completely changed everything.
So, I had to find another Windows PC to print the app form for the interview.

Dear all,
Can I ask for your opinion?

SITUATION
One of the interviewers was scanning my application before asking me questions and stumbled upon that I had been a military. He frowned and said - "In my country we do not like army men". His face expressed that he did not like army men either. Certainly, I replied that in my country service in special forces was regarded to be cool, adding I was proud of my military service.

QUESTION
Do you think it might affect his report about me - if he does not like soldiers?

Thanks!

R2 folks ... Anybody heard about the results till now ?? Wait is killin me big tym !!
Nothing yet. I guess starting next week we should start hearing the good, bad and ugly.

I received an email for more information yesterday. Asking me to fill in a gap of 3 months between 2003 and 2004.

Looks like they are picking through the applications with a very fine comb. In a weird way, I am almost relieved that they are looking at my application now.

Hmm.

I can also say that in my country we don't like army men (except that's a bit sexist, so I'd really say 'we're not fond of military personnel' :-D ) but the truth is that the military personnel are also from my country and so that'd be a rather silly comment.

I don't think you did anything wrong by sticking with what you think is perfectly acceptable to you regarding your background. If you'd cowered, it could easily have been construed against you anyway. Hopefully the interviewer will have some sense not to let his personal views to get in the way of assessing a candidate.

Good luck.

p.s. If your interviewer really doesn't like 'army men', I think he should try his darnest to encourage them to return to civilian life ... MBA sounds good like a good option

The comment the interviewer made sounded really stupid. If he made any negative comments regarding your service on the report, I'm sure adcom would disregard his report since it's illegal to discriminate against someone because of his/her military background in many countries. In fact, it is illegal to ask about military background in job interviews in the US.

Pocari, thank you and kamsahamnida. Very useful feedback you gave.
I do think that military background is a plus, however for the moment I thought that interviewer's negative impression about one detail might spoil overall impression.

2 more weeks till the deadline for interview notifications for r3..
I'm literally dreaming notifications now. I know there's really nothing I can do to but wait.

Any tips on how to get through this period?
P.S. Going to nz for 2 weeks.. hoping that jumping out of a plane with a chute will help..

The count hasn't changed at all. I go on MBAConnect pretty often. If I see a change, I'll report it here for you guys.

What an idiotic thing to say by your interviewer! INSEAD in general loves military men who want to go into business. For all the right reasons. Singapore has mandatory military service by all its citizens. So you shouldn't worry about it too much. But if you think that he might say negative things regarding unrelated competencies on the report because he doesn't like "army men", then I'd say shoot an email to your co-ordinator.

Write the mail in a very very respectful manner without getting angry at all, but do put your point across.

What country are you from? And what country was the interviewer from?

Hi everyone..I've been reading through this blog for the Insead applicants..And it's been very useful =)

I just wanted to check with the R1 members if there are any Sri Lankans admitted in round 1???

I'm Sri Lankan, and I've completed the interviews, so just slowly dying whilst waiting for a (positive) decision!!

Thanks in advance..

Oh and my stats are 680 GMAT, 5+years experience in banking..

Thank you. As you got that emoional it might be the sign you were in the service also.
I 've already made steps, thank you.

Dear all,
Bearing in mind Murphy laws, you are now to keep on working/living day by day as if you have never applied to INSEAD. Make other plans for January 2012: start a new project, marry, join French Foreign Legion (Legion Etrangere) - etc. But they should be very realistic. If your plans are real and big - Murphy laws will send you to INSEAD to spoil them. Even if you are not admitted - it is not end of days, just a stumble. And moreover, you will have ready plans for January. Waiting is very exhausting - preparing for the future is much more interesting.

In any battle, when you have time - you never anxiously wait for the next contact, you just reload your weapon, check it, find another foxhole may be and stay prepared.

Don't forget to start jogging or keeping in shape in other ways - brainy people often live less because of bad health))) Less thinking, more moving!

The best part is asking your girlfriend/boyfriend to marry you this weekend and then hopefully saying: nevermind!!!!!!!!!! Got other plans now! Insead in January! You were just a back up plan in case I wasn't admitted! Just awesome!
