Time to put some effort on those essays. BTW they increased by 100 words each job essay, and also slightly changed them or re-arranged them. LT and ST career goals now has to be squeezed into the second job essay + describe career... really short space. Might it be that it's getting a lower weight? It seems they have tilted towards the "FIT" (diversity, cultural, international, etc.).
Briefly summarise your current (or most recent) job, including the nature of work, major responsibilities, and where relevant,
employees under your supervision, size of budget,clients/products and results achieved. What would be your next step in terms of
position if you were to remain in the same company? (350 words max.)
Please give a full description of your career since graduating from university. It should be written as if you were talking to
someone at a social gathering detailing your career path with the rationale behind your choices. Discuss your short and long term
career aspirations. (350 words max.)
Woww..that basically leaves very little space to explain career goals and why insead...that's a big change! good luck, guys...I am a recent admit (15J class), would be happy to answer any questions about app process if I can...
Dear Diver,
I absolutely agree with you, I am currently wading through the web of my thoughts while writing the essay for Jan 2015 intake.. I am also flummoxed by the absence of any mention of why MBA/Insead or career goals.. can you please advise as to where you see these topics fitting in ?
I just submitted my application for round 1. Think about it this way. If they really wanted to know why mba/why insead/career goals, they would've asked that. they did ask that in previous years, but have kept it out this year - i think theres a reason for that. they want to know you as a person, and know who you really are and what drives you. i'm sure INSEAD knows you absolutely love the school and would do anything to attend. they made the change so that they can hear more real and authentic stories, as opposed to random name dropping and "i love INSEAD because...."
just my 2 cents. i haven't been invited to interview or anything yet, but I honestly think if they didn't ask those questions, they don't want to know. The only one area I would focus on is Career Goals - try to incorporate that somewhere in your essays. You can even get your recommender to talk about these areas, if you absolutely cannot fit them anywhere in your essays.
fingers crossed :D
