Hey GMATkillerdude,
Nice username.
I believe it depends on opportunity cost. Taking up a task always has a risk of not doing other. Just as you mentioned, 4 years of work experience and by the time you will get in a MBA program you will have 5 years of work experience so you have other options available as well. Now it depends on whether you would want to leverage your work experience and on goals in life. If you are looking to become an international leader then I would say INSEAD is a very good option. I am not saying by going into IIMs, you will not become international leader but probability of getting recognised as one increases when you take up schools such as INSEAD. I hope that makes sense.
On an average a student in INSEAD has 5 years of work experience. I had 5.5 when I started INSEAD.
After opportunity cost, next important thing is profile and GMAT score. Why don't you share information here (or PM me) and we can continue our discussion.
Best,
Shantanu
