Hello maddy2511

Thanks for sharing your details.

The good news is that you have extensive work experience and your career follows a logical growth trajectory. You definitely come across as a stable candidate and this will certainly work to your advantage.

That said, your GMAT score is slightly on the lower side (by ISB standards) and we recommend that you retake the GMAT, aiming for a score upwards of 700. Further, while most business schools look for candidates with holistic profiles, the paucity of extra curricular activities will not have any major impact on your chances of success.

At this point, focus on creating a stellar application, which demonstrates your leadership abilities, and builds a natural flow among your professional experiences, interests, and career goals. If you take care of these points, you are bound to be a competitive applicant in the ISB pool.

Should you wish to discuss your career goals in greater detail please reach out to us! ☺

Good Luck.

Hi,

I am an Indian female, 22 years old.
Following are my academic scores:
10th: 91%
12th: 80%
Bcom: 65%

I am a Company Secretary with 2 years of work experience as of date. I am also studying for the Masters.

I have worked in a reputed CS firm for 18 months. I worked as an executive Company Secretary and I am currently working in a mid- sized CA firm.

Extra Curricular:
A budding spoken word poet,
Have done a certificate course in creative writing from Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts,
Volunteering at Robin Hood Army, Mumbai chapter (NGO) since a year,
certified jazz dancer from Shiamak Davar School of Performing Arts.

I am planning to take the GMAT in September and my target score is 740. I believe I can achieve it, although, my concern is with respect to my work experience and my overall profile. Is this is a good enough profile to get into ISB?
I will gain three years of work experience in March 2018.

Hello MrJukeHardbane :)

Your five years of work experience, enriched with international exposure, is definitely appealing. We are confident that a strong portrayal of your career progress, along with a logical link up of your experience with your short-term and long-term career goals, will definitely give you a good chance at ISB.

That said, a good score on the GMAT is equally important and you should definitely be looking to score upwards of 700. It goes without saying, the higher the score, the better your chances of success will be. At the same time, keep performing in your current role at work. Remember, you should strive to include as many talking points in your applications, as you can.

We suggest that you concentrate on your GMAT. Once you have your desired score, work on an application that represents your strengths and focuses on the holistic nature of your candidature. ☺

Should you feel the need to discuss your profile in greater detail, feel free to approach us.

All the very best! ☺

Hello All!

Wanted to confirm whether applying in R2 by any chance minimizes one's chances of making it to ISB?
Many consultants recommend strongly to apply in R1. Any feedback?

Hi Sagar,

I strongly believe that you should apply to ISB when your application can be the strongest. If its round 2, then so be it.

Our applicants who apply in R2 have had excellent results so I know for sure you are not disadvantaged. However it will be good to undesrtand your circumstances and your profile to offer more customized advice. Feel free to reach out.

Hi sagarmehra2015,

ISB receives more or less equal applications in both rounds and the seats offered are in proportion to the applications received. Thus, you are neither at an advantage or at a disadvantage, if you apply in R2 :)

Apply to ISB, when you feel like you are in a good position to do so. If you are satisfied with your GMAT score and are ready to write your essays, apply as soon as you can. However, if you feel that a slight delay may help you improve your GMAT score or may give you a larger number of talking points in terms of job responsibilities, you may apply in the next round.

Hope this helps ☺

Hello jigneshmaniyar,

Your extensive work experience will surely put you at an advantage; especially if you are able to build an application, which focuses on your leadership skills, and achievements, and portrays a strong sync among your professional experiences, short-term goals, and long-term aspirations.

On the flip side, however, we recommend that you improve upon your current GMAT score. A score above 700, coupled with an application that adequately represents your strengths will give you a strong chance at cracking ISB! ☺

We take this opportunity to offer you a free profile evaluation. Should you feel the need for the same, please feel free to approach us. ☺

Hi,

Extra-curriculars are a definite good to have, but they are not mandatory for the ISB application. Focus upon your work achievements and leadership roles at work.
Also, a 650 GMAT score is low. Aim for a 700+
