Tricky question I guess

A) if the author's intent is to say 'Jane likes all of John's friends', this option is a complicated way to say it

Eliminating B & D because they are the opposite of what the author is conveying - Jane doesn't like any of John's friends.

Option C doest not have SV pair and adds distortion to meaning

Only option E conveys the same meaning and is concise

Note: I initially chose Option B and then realised Option D says the same too and both feel grammatically correct. Only then I challenged understanding of the intended meaning and matched with E

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

Jane does not like none of John's friends.

A. does not like none

This answer choice is grammatically incorrect. The use of not and none in the same clause creates a double negative.

B. does not like any

While this answer choice corrects the original double negative mistake, it is stylistically flawed. Does not like any is redundant because the same meaning can be expressed in fewer words. Look for a more concise answer choice.

C. like none

While this answer choice corrects the original double negative mistake, it is grammatically incorrect. The singular subject Jane does not agree with the plural verb like.

D. likes none

CORRECT

E. likes any

While this answer choice corrects the original double negative mistake, it radically changes the meaning of the original sentence to the point of reversing it completely.

Interesting question. A choice is between B and D. In my opinion В is more concise

The choice seems to be between 'likes none' and 'does not like any'. Maybe the former is shorter, but I personally feel like the second is more natural, so I vote B.
