What do you mean by "weird"?
Yes, I am 39 and to be 40 shortly. I do not really think dress is the root cause. I really feel bad about my interview performance.
First question after sitting down was: I just read through your résumé, can you tell me something NOT in your résume?
I did not get any chemistry throughout the interview. I made appointment just one hour before arriving at the school. I even doubt the interviewer even got time to read my essays and other application materials.
That's because the interviewer does not read your essays or other application materials. All they receive is your resume and application notes, if any, which is why it is extremely important to have a good resume and know it inside and out. I agree with the other comments in that due to your background and achievements, a full-time MBA may not have been the best fit for you and your goals. Congrats on being a Sloan Fellow though!
Eh, there are people over 40 in just about every MBA class. Who knows if this is the right move for him or not... I doubt any of us have enough information to make an assertion like that...
The interview is key. They gave him an interview, he got over the first hurdle of convincing adcom that an MBA was needed. Coming off unprepared in an interview may have signaled (like that Cobra, using strategy even after the final) that he didn't take Johnson seriously enough. So... why offer someone a spot who doesn't seem to want it, and probably wouldn't accept?
Prepare for interviews... If you aren't ready schedule it later. After all of the effort you put into the application process to get to that point, always put your best foot forward.
Good luck!
