Hi all, would like to check if you guys receive email from adcom for the status change or official email of application results? Or you just login online?

Thanks.

I didn't receive an email, only a call. If I login to my applyyourself page right now though, I see the following:
OFFER - CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME TO THE JOHNSON SCHOOL. PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO REVIEW YOUR LETTER.

Below that is a link to the decision letter.

Well, mine is a deny. So disapointed....

My profile,
G740, Q51, V38
PhD in chemistry, 13-yr work experience. Asia tech manager in a fortune 500.

But my interview was very bad. I got the interview invite when I was in New York City for vacation. Then I immediately drove to Ithaca without any preparation, and in jeans. I felt very bad when I left the intervew.

This is the only school I applied.

However I have a Sloan Fellows offer. But I have bee counting on Johnson to offer me with scholarship.

..... well, very bad.

and, any chance to appeal? anybody knows?

not wanting to sound like a jerk, but did you really expect to get into a top b-school after wearing jeans to an interview?

Not sure about appeal, but, maybe, you can send an email to Christine Sneva explaining the situation and asking for a reconsideration. It has happened before.

You are right. I did not prepare to go to campus while I am on vacation in NYC so I did not bring with me any business dress

Well, fair enough, in 2007 I was hiring a researcher. Among lots of candidates there was a PhD candidate from Cornell interviewed by us. I interviewed but denied and recruited one from another Univ in NY state. Now I was paid back.

What the heck. Denied!

Not a single admit for me this year. Can't figure out what's wrong.

Looks like for R2, I have to go deep down the rankings and search for a school that helps me achieve my goals.

That's weird. But if you don't count your PhD as your work experience, you are probably over 40.
Maybe they are not convinced whether they can help you. I don't believe they'll turn down a brilliant applicant just by clothes you are wearing.

Then I have been counting on Johnson to offer me with scholarship. However Sloan Fellows said I could still go.

Competition at the top 20 schools is fierce - just getting in is a major accomplishment. Getting a scholarship to a top 20 school is even more difficult. It's a little naive to expect a scholarship to a school while you're in the application process.

For top schools, I don't even expect campus visit will give you an edge in competition.
But this will help you write your essays and clarify your goals.
And definitely there's no harm in joining info sessions/visits.

What do you mean by "weird"?

Yes, I am 39 and to be 40 shortly. I do not really think dress is the root cause. I really feel bad about my interview performance.

First question after sitting down was: I just read through your résumé, can you tell me something NOT in your résume?

I did not get any chemistry throughout the interview. I made appointment just one hour before arriving at the school. I even doubt the interviewer even got time to read my essays and other application materials.

That's because the interviewer does not read your essays or other application materials. All they receive is your resume and application notes, if any, which is why it is extremely important to have a good resume and know it inside and out. I agree with the other comments in that due to your background and achievements, a full-time MBA may not have been the best fit for you and your goals. Congrats on being a Sloan Fellow though!

Eh, there are people over 40 in just about every MBA class. Who knows if this is the right move for him or not... I doubt any of us have enough information to make an assertion like that...

The interview is key. They gave him an interview, he got over the first hurdle of convincing adcom that an MBA was needed. Coming off unprepared in an interview may have signaled (like that Cobra, using strategy even after the final) that he didn't take Johnson seriously enough. So... why offer someone a spot who doesn't seem to want it, and probably wouldn't accept?

Prepare for interviews... If you aren't ready schedule it later. After all of the effort you put into the application process to get to that point, always put your best foot forward.

Good luck!

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit at the strategy reference. Good thing you didn't mention stats, otherwise I would have to give you a throat punch the next time I see you.

But yeah - interviews shouldn't be done out of convenience. You wouldn't interview for a job in jeans (unless it's Google), so you should treat a B-school interview the same way. First impressions mean something.

Denied as well and no idea why. U.S. applicant with 4 years of investment research experience, will be 5 at matriculation. 740 GMAT (49Q, 41V). CFA Charterholder. Published articles and speak around the country at investment seminars.

I went on campus to interview and thought it went well enough to at least warrant a WL (honestly, I thought I would be accepted). The only reason I can think of is perhaps I didn't make it clear enough that I want to go to Johnson. I do admit it's not my top choice but I would love being there nonetheless.

R2, too. I don't believe they can start sending interviews before Christmas. Give them some break. 8-)
