So it looks like - for those of us who got invites---we have to wait for a second email to set up the interview? Is this what you guys gather?

The letter I received says "To accommodate the volume of interview requests we will receive, we are staggering the invitation process over the next 10 days. You should expect an email with instructions for how to schedule your interview. "

Yes. It's a generic email.

Does anybody have any knowledge about the odds of being admitted once making it to the interview round? E.g. 50% of people who get interviews end up getting accepted.
mcharb13

I found this little snippet from an interview of Christine Sneva in 2012:
Quote:
What percentage of the pool do you interview?

We get about 2,200 applicants. We did about 700 to 800 interviews last year.

I calculate that is 31%-36% roughly. With an acceptance of ~29% ~22% that means that approximately ~80%-90% ~60%-70% of interviewees will get accepted.

These are however based on statements from the former senior admissions director in 2012. Christine I believe now heads up the Cornell Tech MBA and Ann Richards has taken over as Interim Senior Director. We also don't know how much application volume increases will change things. From another interview they've stated about 15%-20% increase in applications year over year recently.

Have you heard anything from MIT?

Nope... Quiet on that front as well. It appears that although MIT sends out interview invites all the way into December, the majority of Cambridge invites have been sent.

Sloan was a longshot for me (frankly so is Johnson) so I'm just relieved at this point that I can at least continue to the next step here.

I just hope I don't screw this one up... It's my last hope for business school this year.

What makes you say Johnson is a longshot? 730 GMAT is solid. Do you have good work experience?

To my knowledge, Johnson's acceptance rate is ~22%. P&Q and accepted confirm this figure as well.

The truth is that GMAT only confirms one's ability to absorb a narrow set of specific information and nothing else. I've never heard that anyone has been accepted only because of a high GMAT. :/

I guess it would be solid as I've proudly worked my way up into a management position only 6+ years out of school. However I've worked for 3 different companies over that period of time and that may have scared off some of the admissions officers.

I also have an abysmal gpa (let's just say I'd be at the 1% of the gpa range if accepted).

I think I probably present the greatest risk to most admissions readers due to some of these anomalies.

Lastly, I also don't think I'm that unique and I'm in a highly competitive "bracket" (but not Indian male IT, those guys have it the worst).

You're correct.

The numbers would then be 60%-70% of those interviewed.

Thanks!

I have been waitlisted. But I don't understand, how can they waitlist me without an interview? Can anyone advice me on what this means

The folks that got W/L or dinged - did you get an email? Or did your status just update to the decision online? Mine still reads under review, and I've been refreshing my email every couple minutes.

Also - congrats to everyone that got invited to Interview!

Does anyone know if it would be worthwhile to try and improve my GMAT during this time and send those scores in or is the probability of getting accepted at this point already too low?

I would view that as a deferral to R2. They will likely review your application again and if they want to move you one step closer to an admit, they will invite you to interview with the R2 candidates.
