Semicolon is used to conjoin two independent clauses. Hence it is mandatory to have an IC( Subject+verb+object). D is the correct choice.

Q1. In today’s world, not only leaders but managers also need to possess leadership abilities to be able to motivate their direct reports. A recent report evaluating professional progress made by average students discovered that students who excelled in sports while in school display leadership abilities and hence are five times as likely to become managers, consequently earning higher salaries. It is quite likely that excelling in sports while at school imparts these leadership abilities. Which of the following if true, most strengthens the author’s belief above? A. Students who already possessed leadership qualities from a very young age were no more likely to excel in sports in school when compared to ordinary students. B. Students whose parents excelled in sports were no more likely to take up sports while in school than the average student. C. Above average students who excelled in sports in school were also more likely to become managers when compared to a regular above average student. D. Leadership skills that managers need to possess can only be acquired by practice and are otherwise difficult to teach in an academic classroom. E. Most companies report that they prefer hiring students who have excelled in sports. Difficulty - Hard

Q2. George Bernard Shaw wrote: That any sane nation, having observed that you could provide for the supply of bread by giving bakers a pecuniary interest in baking for you, should go on to give a surgeon a pecuniary interest in cutting off your leg is enough to make one despair of political humanity. Shaw’s statement would best serve as an illustration in an argument criticizing which of the following? (A) Dentists who perform unnecessary dental work in order to earn a profit (B) Doctors who increase their profits by specializing only in diseases that affect a large percentage of the population (C) Grocers who raise the price of food in order to increase their profit margins (D) Oil companies that decrease the price of their oil in order to increase their market share (E) Bakers and surgeons who earn a profit by supplying other peoples basic needs Difficulty - Hard

CR Questions October - 5 :

In the survey, 27% of respondents said they preferred dark chocolate, 28% said they preferred white chocolate, and 45% said they preferred milk chocolate. But when the same group participated in a taste test of the company’s new product line, 60% preferred dark chocolate.

Which of the following can be inferred from the information above?

A. The survey participants were generally inaccurate regarding their chocolate preferences.

B. Some people who stated a preference for white chocolate in the survey preferred dark chocolate in the taste test.

C. Some people who preferred milk chocolate in the taste test had initially stated a preference for white chocolate in the survey.

D. Some people who stated a preference for milk chocolate in the survey preferred dark chocolate in the taste test.

E. Most participants expressed a different preference in the taste test than they had indicated in the survey.

Difficulty - Hard

Q2. A recent archaeological discovery in a remote region has unearthed artifacts that indicate the existence of an ancient civilization. Proponents argue that this discovery challenges existing theories about the timeline of human civilization and suggests the possibility of advanced ancient societies. Critics, however, argue that the artifacts may have been tampered with or misinterpreted, casting doubt on the validity of the claims.

Which of the following would it be most useful to determine in order to evaluate the argument?

(A) The qualifications and expertise of the archaeologists involved in the excavation and analysis of the artifacts.

(B) The dating methods and techniques used to determine the age of the artifacts and their accuracy.

(C) The presence of similar artifacts or evidence of advanced civilizations in neighboring regions.

(D) The cultural and historical context of the remote region and its relevance to the claims.

(E) The perspectives and opinions of other experts in the field of archaeology regarding the significance of the discovery.

Statement - MowGreen would not be able to operate profitably in the Drawnville Area.

Conclusion - MowGreen will not expand its operations in the Drawnville Area.

Assumption therefore has to connect profitability with expansion. Therefore option A is clearly the best choice.

Heart of the passage is - Mowgreen will not expand its operations into Drawville area anytime soon (it may expand later) given that it is expanding quickly and Drawville does not seem profitable to them as of now. Assumption - Profitability is a necessary criterion for Mowgreen’s expansion. Option A.

doesn’t this statement -
"Mowgreen would not be able to operate profitably there"
in passage can help us in assuming that- in the mowgreen operates profitabily in the areas where it currently operates

An assumption must always be TRUE. Hence, negating it must break the conclusion. Even if Mowgreen DOES NOT profitably operate in the areas it currently operates, the statement won’t break the conclusion that ‘Mowgreen will not expand its operations into Drawville area anytime soon’. Whereas negating option A does break.

The subject is merger here which is singular so all the options with “are intended” will be eliminated and singular ‘is’ should be used imo
