Kelley vs Olin vs Broad vs Carlson

Question

Hi,

I am an international student from India with admits from:
1. Kelley- 22K/year fellowship
2. Olin- 25K/year forte fellowship
3. Broad- 40K/year scholarship
4. Carlson- 30K/year scholarship

Current Job- Research Lead at a manufacturing MNC

Post-MBA goal- Move into Consulting with Operations function in one of the top Consulting firms like MBB, EY, PwC, Deloitte etc

I am having a hard time in finalizing the B-school considering my goal, location, and the financials.

Any suggestion highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Vishi,

Congratulations !! That's an impressive list with great scholarships.
It depends on how firm you are about your post-MBA goals because different schools have different strengths.
For example, Broad is highly reputed for Supply Chain and Operations while Kelley is a marketing Powerhouse in the Midwest. So the chances of getting an opportunity in that industry or function are higher as compared to others. To put in perspective, last year, Mckinsey hired 3 international students from Broad for its supply chain and operations practice. While Kelley students are a regular sight at top CPG firms like J&J, P&G, 3M etc.

Hi mihir, Thanks for your reply. Indeed i agree with you. I have spoken to few students from the supply chain academy at Kelley. It seems that PwC EY and Deloitte are the major recruiters hiring fir Operations consulting. Additionally, knowing that MSU has a clear edge in Operations and Kelley has a brand name (Academies as well) I am very confused. I want to take a well thought of and researched decision.

When it comes to supply chain, there is another supporting ranking called Gartner, that ranks best schools in supply chain field. Broad is #1 with biggest faculty. Through Broad, you can get ample opportunities in consulting but mostly second tier and other big names recruit from Broad compared to Kelley. You can still slip to Mckinsey as some of Kelley's did as mentioned by mihir0710 . The mentor program is plus as you will have a veteran who will give you individual advice and experience. Also, you got much money from Broad and you, as international, will have less burden. Good luck
