Duke is a little different. Despite "Team Fuqua," the MBA program at Duke is actually much larger in feel than Tuck. The class size is ~450 which makes it feel much less intimate than that of Tuck. That isn't a bad or good thing, per se, it's just different.

Both Fuqua and Tuck are excellent programs and do gain international recognition a large part from their parent university names. That is something to keep in mind, to the extent reputation/brand ranks highly in your priorities list.

Also happy to discuss. Good luck!

Hi Team Admissionado, I am in between to chose Tuck VS UCLA(with 70K Scholarship) VS Emory(110K) VS Georgetown(30K). Also, I got waitlisted in R2 in following colleges i.e. Stern/Ross/Tepper/Haas/Kellogg's/USC Marshall. What are you thoughts with respect to that.

I am looking forward for a Brand value so that it would help me for longer duration time. People from different part of world should know that I am studying from which MBA college. I don't need to give them always explanation that where I am studying. Name itself should speak. Also, this is my second masters so that I want to choose best college for me. If I studying MBA from any college as listed above it's name should be known by everyone and yes for me ranking matters.

Congrats on all those acceptances and scholarship money!

Dartmouth/Tuck is the most prestigious of the bunch followed by UCLA and Georgetown. Emory drops off a fair amount. It's very hard to quantify the difference in brand value based on the relative amounts you received from each school. You might want to consider geography in your deicsion. If you want to be on the ast Coast, then Georgetown/Tuck are the way to go. UCLA is a fantastic school but very West Coast-centric.

I don't have a strong opinion on your waitlist options. It's very hard to move up and off of waitlists, but if you have received any feedback from those schools, feel free to share with us. Kellogg is probably the only school in your waitlist group that is better than Tuck in terms of ranking/prestige. Stern is on par with Tuck.

Lastly, do you have any priorities or criteria ranking beyond just brand name? There are lots of ways to help differentiate between the great options you have available. Again, let us know how we can help.

Would you be able to suggest between LBS and Duke with 40K. Those are my choices actually. I am an oil and gas profession, and I think consulting is the most probably route to take post MBA. Let me know if hat you think.

Hello ankiprat001,

If you are looking at brand value, Tuck is the biggest name on your list unless, of course, you convert either Kellogg or Haas. Also, waitlists cannot be relied upon.

All the best!

If that is the decision, I would lean towards Duke with the $40K. That's a good chunk of money though, of course, everyone's personal finances are different.

Duke Fuqua places its students very well in consulting. Team Fuqua and the general student body lends themselves very well to MBB and other top shops.

One caveat, if you want to do consulting in the UK/EU then stick with LBS. It's not out of the question to recruit for international offices from either program, but it's way easier if you are already in the same country/continent/region.

Are you looking to stay in O&G (through consulting) or pivot entirely? If the former, then Fuqua is great because you're already in the American South and can recruit well to Texas and other areas where O&G is a hometown industry.

Unfortunately, we are admissions experts, not immigration attorneys so we'll just comment on the choice between two great programs!

It sounds like Tuck is the better fit if you want to end up in the US and can figure out all the immigration. It's easier to recruit within the same country in which you are pursuing your MBA.

The LBS name is stronger overall than the Tuck name. Yes, Tuck has a great reputation and a very loyal alumni base, but LBS is more internationally recognized. Tuck does very well in placing its students at all of the consulting firms you mentioned, plus more. The program feeds well into the type of work one does as a consultant, especially on the data science side.

Let's see what type of money (if any) you get from LBS. That might help make your decision easier.

You have a lot of variables going on here, so how would you rank/weigh them? We can easily dive into any of the above with greater scrutiny, but it might all be for naught if it's nothing something that factors heavily into your decision.

Thank you so much for your input.

In terms of ranking (1-10)

Job placement in a preferred role 10
Highest Salary 10
School Prestige Recognisability Globally (including US) 9
Network in tech/analytic space 8
Academic Experience 7
Global Network 7
Flexibility during MBA (internships, job opportunities) 7
Cost of attending 6
Comfort of place to live in 4

I might have forgotten some, but these are the rankings in a nutshell.

I am also on the waitlitst of Kellogg, Haas, NYU and Yale.

So you think Haas is the bigger name than Tuck?
