Hey guys. I got waitlisted. Any suggestions for what I should do next? USC is my first and only choice, so I'm really hoping I can make it in. Anyone know the chances to get off the waitlist?

First, don't panic. Waitlist is way better than "Thanks but you're not what we're looking for."

Second, ask them if retaking the GMAT would make a difference. This is really the only thing you can change on your app at this point. Also, someone I know was accepted to UCLA from the waitlist after UCLA recommended that they retake the GMAT. (Not sure if you took the GMAT, I see a GRE Score next to your info... this really is the only thing that can be changed now).

Third, if they say 'yes' then schedule another GMAT and study like you've never studied before. If they say 'no' then don't panic because waitlist is way better than "Thanks but you're not what we're looking for."

Racer, thanks for the excellent advice. I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Received an invite at 4:11 EST.

The e-mail looked scary. Don't have a heart attack when the first few words are "Thank you for your interest...".

congrats to you guys! slr - did you hear anything from anderson?
my status changed from "complete and under review" to just "submitted" a couple days ago when other guys did as well. Reading last years Anderson thread, it looks like I/we might find out a day or so before the deadline (12/12/2012). How you doin'? Anything good?

nah nothing yet.

Congratulations to all those who got interview invites! I submitted my application on Nov 1 and haven't heard from them yet. Does anyone know if the school informs you in case of a ding? My application status says "Submitted".

Thanks.

I think they let you know if it's a ding only on Feb 1st. My application also still just says 'submitted'. I'm wondering if there is any particular disadvantage to being a reapplicant.

Good luck to those selected for interviews!

Thanks Cyber! Are you one of the current students interviewing applicants?

I had my on-campus interview today so I thought I would go ahead and share my experience:

When I arrived to the admissions office, I was asked for my resume and to have a seat in the waiting area where I chatted with a few other applicants who were very friendly. It seemed like there were quite a few students and faculty members conducting interviews throughout the admissions office and career center. My interviewer was an extremely welcoming and down-to-earth first year student who stated right off the bat that the interview would be very casual (which it was) and to feel free to ask any questions that I may have at any point. He then gave me a bit of his own background before jumping into his questions for me. Here are the questions I was asked:

Walk me through your resume.
What are your long term goals?
Why did you decide to pursue an MBA?
Why Marshall?
What is your leadership style?
Tell me about a situation you wish you would have handled differently.

The interviewer then opened up the floor for questions I had for the remainder of the time. The entire process lasted about 45 minutes, half of which involved his questions for me followed by us discussing his experiences in the program so far.

It was a great experience overall, very laid back yet informative. Good luck to all others who have an interview scheduled and feel free to PM me with any questions you may have about my experience.

I had this suspicion... I hope your interviews went smoothly as well! I've heard this has been a very interesting round of applicants so far, should make for a great incoming class.

I am R2 Applicant , just wanted to know whether all the essays have to be submitted online as one document (pdf/txt) or the main essay goes in Pr0gram specific essays and the rest of the essays in Addtional documents. Can we upload multiple documents in Program Specific essays??

I uploaded ALL of my essays (each separated by the essay question in bold) as one PDF document to the "Program-Specific Essays" portion of the "Essays & Documents" section of the online application. This didn't cause any errors on my side and the final application that was produced seemed to be formatted just fine.
