I knew the whole application process would be strenuous. What I've gone through though has been a lot harder than I had anticipated. GMAT stress, working-pleading-negotiating with your recommenders, hours of researching colleges and finally fretting over every single word on your essay has had me pulling my hair out! The application itself takes hours to complete. And I haven't even gotten to the pressure that family and friends impose on you by telling you how confident they are that you're getting into Harvard. Sometimes, I feel like I'm about to explode.

Just needed to vent! I think I'll continue nitpicking my essays now.

Yeah it's a painful process. Especially as those deadlines for each round pile up right on top of each other!

Yeah, from my talks with others, i feel applicants underestimate the details of the app. Many don't realize that it takes considerable time filling in the data and creating the self-reported transcript. Then scanning for errors.

I have been picking at different data forms for weeks now. It's frustrating going back and being like, "What was I thinking? That's crazy talk!" Even for short questions! My goal is to ship them all out this week and then bug my recommenders with kisses (hershey kisses...hehe).

I'm hoping this process is like giving birth and we'll forget the labor-intensiveness (pun intended) once we get in because oxytocin will roar through the body. This is probably why so many stories of people getting accepted involve crying...

Keep at it a little longer! You've come this far and you're almost there. After your first acceptance letter it will all feel worthwhile.

Just make sure you don't over-edit those essays (yes, it is possible!). Of course proof and check for grammar errors, but do not edit so much that your authentic voice is lost.
