Hello everybody, could you please evaluate my profile for the best B-Schools in Europe (HEC,St Gallen, ESCP, ESSEC, Bocconi), MiM Program.
This is my profile

I am 22 years old and have just graduated in Bba in 2020 with 7.68 cgpa.I was in the top 10 students in the 1st year of my college.
Class 10 - 81.67%
Class 12 - 79%
I have a few certifications like marketing analytics and corporate finance. My hobbies are drawing cartoons, mobile photography and 3d modelling.I was also in the top 10 of my batch in the first year of college(certificate).I am aiming for GMAT score of 680+. What are my chances of getting into the above mentioned schools ?? Thank you
Hi Sauvik,

Thanks for sharing your profile and MiM aspirations.

My name is Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO.

You have a very interesting profile! From what I can see:

Academics – good GPA and percentile. Would also like to know from where you did your undergrad?

GMAT – Well, 680+ is a fine score to target for a reasonable chance in the mentioned school list.

Work Experience – While MiM programs do not require work experience, but having some sort of professional experience/internship gives you an edge. We see that you completed your graduation in 2020. Any internship/professional experience? The following link will help you to understand the requirements for MiM applications-https://www.aringo.com/masters-in-management/.

Extracurricular activities/Volunteer Work – Very interesting hobbies. Try having more talking points around this (e.g. if your cartoons have published anywhere, what kind of 3D modeling, etc.). Having a few certifications is another positive point. Also, any volunteer work?

School list – From what we see, the school list looks fine. But we would be able to give better insights about your chances once we have your GMAT scores and the above information.

All in all, sounds like you have a good profile! If you send me your CV and other info once you are done with your GMAT on PRIYANKAK@ARINGO.com, I would love to connect you with our CEO who will be happy to help further with a detailed review and perhaps work together on some amazing apps.

All the best. :)

Hello Everyone, I request the experts to evaluate and predict the chances I have for a MiM program in HEC Paris, ESSEC, Fuqua, Cornell, ESCP, Bocconi, basically any of the top 15 MiM programs.

23 years old, Indian National, Male.
I graduated in 2018 with Bachelor of Commerce Honors, with a 3.05 GPA out of 4 from a state university.

A GMAT score of 720, Q49 V40.

I currently have 3 Internship experiences,
1) Indian FMCG Company as a Finance Intern,
2) Research Associate at Kolkata Based Research Firm,
3) Teaching Faculty at Boddhi Tree Foundation (NGO).

I have worked for about a year in my father's company, where I managed Finance to logistics to compliances. Currently, I am working in the FMCG Company, where I interned, and volunteering in an NGO.

10th standard Score- 8.4 CGPA out of 10, 12th (Majored in Commerce)- 75%.

Hey nj97!

Hailing from a commerce background with a GPA of 3.05 out of 4, you should be able to easily target most of these colleges. Keeping in mind that Cornell is an Ivy League school, grades are quite important, thus to strengthen your profile, you'll need to back it up with other extracurricular activities you've participated in during your undergraduate studies. Moving forward, a GMAT score of 720 is excellent, and a Quants score of 49 will easily qualify you for an MSc in Finance.

Talking about your work experiences, you have pursued numerous internships, particularly in the field of finance. Additionally, you worked for a year at your father's company in finance-related roles, which will undoubtedly assist you during the admissions process. However, what seems to be lacking is the presence of big brands, but you can always back it up with the various projects on which you have worked and the experience gained from there. Stick to finance-related positions to further showcase a well-groomed profile.

Your volunteer work as a member of an NGO's teaching faculty demonstrates your commitment to education. This will be an added advantage for your profile as schools tend to favour students who are socially responsible. In order to groom your extracurricular front, you should include a variety of additional activities that you have participated in - whether it's a club, society, sport, or competition, you should take advantage of this opportunity to showcase the various abilities and accomplishments you've accumulated over the years.

Based on the information you've provided, here's a breakdown of the schools you're targeting.

HEC, Duke Fuqua, Cornell will fall under the dream category with 50% chances of admission, while ESSEC, ESCP, Bocconi can be clubbed under the competitive category with 70% chances of conversion

All things considered, while you have a competitive profile, to increase your chances of getting admitted to these schools you would need to ensure that you have a very strong application (consisting of - Essays, LORs, and Resume) that highlights your strengths and overshadows your weaknesses in order to differentiate your profile. You need to showcase your journey, what makes you different from your peers, and how you are a great value addition to the school.

Therefore, in lieu of that, I would recommend you to check out our flagship ALL-IN-ONE service, which has helped 3500+ applicants get into their dream schools. You would also be entitled to end-to-end consulting combined with unlimited edits on your application documents. Not only this, you’d be consulted by a B-school alumnus who’d be helping you directly with your application process, right from finalizing the right schools and submitting an impactful application to the school to preparing you for the interview and bagging scholarships!

Hello everyone,

I would appreciate it if you could evaluate my profile (if thats still possible)

Preferred program: Innovation & Entrepreneurship at ESADE
Other options: International Management at IE/NOVA/ESCP/BOCCONI/CBS

Male, German, 24 years old

Early high school in Germany, last three years at the German School in Lisbon
2 student exchanges in France
3 months of work and travel in the US

BA in Hospitality Management at Hotelschool The Hague in the Netherlands (#1 in the Netherlands, Top 5 worldwide)
GPA: 7.38 out of 10
Dissertation: 9/10 (very high for my university)
Internships (part of study program): 6 month F&B internship at Sheraton on Tenerife, Spain / 7 month internship at digital consulting scale up for hospitality companies in Berlin, Germany

Graduated March, 2020
Workexp. 1: Worked 8 months as a freelancer in research and translation - awarded with certificate for quality of work and customer satisfaction (Top 10% of all freelancers)
Workexp. 2: Responsible for pilot project for the European expansion of FMGC Business Analytics Scale Up in Amsterdam

Languages:

Fluent: German, English, Portuguese, Dutch
Used to be fluent (could "relearn" within 2 months if necessary): French and Spanish

Extra curricular activities:

- Heavily involved in Student Association: Academic assistance, integration of new students, gala committee
- Purchasing Manager of the student bar
- Volunteer at recruitment office: Open days, selection days

GMAT: 680 (Q46/38V)
A bit disappointing because I scored a 710 6 times in a row for my final practice exams, but I guess nervousness made a difference

I know that there are several weaknesses in my profile, but everything combined I think I have several strong points as well.
I lack the "big name" factor regarding my work experience, but not sure how relevant that is for an innovation master?

Hi maxost96,

As the first step towards your profile evaluation, I would like to point out that you have got a pretty well-groomed profile with room for further development. First and foremost, your 7.38 GPA is fairly good and falls under the average front. But the most striking feature of your academic profile is your undergraduate academic background in hospitality management which adds a unique and fresh perspective to the programs you are applying to.

Coming to your work experience, you have a decent amount of professional experience through your internship programs as well as freelancing gigs. Having said that, the best part about your profile is that you have been part of some of the most diverse industries such as hospitality and FMCG. As a result, your profile stands out from the rest of the applicant pool which will eventually work in your favour. Regarding your concerns about the lack of big brand names under your work profile, you need not fret over it since your unique academic and professional background would easily compensate for the same. However, to showcase your professional expertise to the fullest, you can highlight the kind of projects you worked on, the impacts you created and the major takeaways to stand at par with the competition you face.

Your extracurriculars further vouches for the varied skills you have got under your belt. Looking at the details you have provided about your extracurriculars, you have been consistently upgrading yourself by going above and beyond in your endeavours. From your involvement in student association and volunteering work at the recruitment office to managerial duties in the student bar, you have quite a decent amount of experience on these fronts. Moreover, through these endeavours, you can highlight your leadership, management, mentorship and teamwork skills which are some of the traits these B-schools are constantly on the lookout for. In addition to this, as a recommendation, you can also work in an NGO to highlight your social skills or undertake certain certifications to showcase your constant momentum in the quest for knowledge and learnings.

Another interesting addition to your profile is your international experience in the form of two exchange programs in France and 3-month work and travel to the US which goes on to showcase your broadened perspective and adaptability quotient, traits held in high regard by the top b-schools.

Now talking about your concerns regarding your GMAT score of 680, you need not worry much since it is a good enough score with respect to the programs and schools you are applying for. Speaking of the schools you are targeting, i.e, IE, Bocconi, ESADE, NOVA, CBS, you stand a 70% chance of getting in. Additionally, you could also consider some dream category schools (where your chances of acceptance are 50%) such as LBS, DUKE, INSEAD.

You can also boost your chances of acceptance by drawing attention to the stronger aspects of your profile which can be achieved through your application. Your application is basically what can differentiate you by highlighting your strengths and overshadowing your weaknesses. You also need to showcase your journey and how you are a great value addition to the school. Additionally, it also carries a 30% impact on your admission prospects which is why I would urge you to pay more attention to the same.

That said, if you are contemplating how to draft an impactful application, you can check out our All-in-one service which is a complete end-to-end consulting process aimed at providing personalised application suggestions, unlimited edits, and expert consultants who would constantly be there to help you throughout your application journey! We have helped 3500+ applicants get into the top B-schools with a 95% success rate. So what are you waiting for? Just click on the link below and start your admission journey with us!

Re: MiM Profile Evaluations [Master Thread]: Post all Profiles Here [#permalink]
Hi! I'd like to have a profile evaluation.

I have a dual nationality: Belgian and Costarican. I speak perfect French and Spanish and I am also fluent in English. I took the TOEFL in 2016 and scored 112/120. Taking it again shouldn't be an issue. I also have an A2/B1 level in German.

I studied at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. I am finishing my Bachelor in Economics were I expect to have a 14/20 average (cum laude), which is fairly good for the demanding level of Solvay. I finished High School in a French School, with honours (16/20).

I passed the GMAT a month ago and scored 600 (Q36, V36). I know it is quite low, specially in the Q part. I had scored better during the prep tests, but only had one month to study while doing a full time internship. If I had to pass a test again, I'd probably do the GRE.

I have two internships: one at the ministry of economics in Costa Rica and another at a Big4 in corporate finance, also in Costa Rica. At Solvay, I was part of the Consulting Club as a student consultant. I also took part as a volunteer for different activities such as TEDx and Solvay Business Game. In highschool, I took part in a MUN and was also the vice-president of the student government of the school (I don't know if that is worth something).

Post-master, I hope to enter into a strategic consulting firm. Preferably one that tends to do consulting with the public sector. I am applying to the dual degree at IE in MiM and MIR.I don't know if I have the profile necessary or not. I had spoken with IESE admission who encouraged me to apply. I would also be happy to go to the US or the UK. But preferably somewhere with a certain openness towards Latin America because I wish to go back there in the future.

Thank you a lot for your help!

Nationality - Indian
Undergrad Information B.A in Hospitality and Tourism Studies
GMAT/GRE will attempt in a month
Work experience and leadership 22 year old with 2 years of full time work experience (plus 2 years as an apprentice, which I believe is not counted as work experience) in one of India's top hotel chain, I undertook several roles during my time at the property ranging from Guest Relation Executive to Head Concierge. I was also involved in training new employees, the top product up-seller in the hotel and took part various other voluntary activities in the hotel (think : cleanliness drives, elderly care initiatives)
Universities I am looking at MiM programs Essec/ SDA/ ESADE/ Frankfurt and Toulouse for R1 in August.
Post Master goals Looking to mix the management experience I will receive with my previous experience in hospitality to further my career in luxury brand/ brand management.
However, my under graduation was a correspondence program and I haven't been exposed to University life as such and my undergrad score isn't very competitive (60%) considering I was juggling work and studies. I plan on leveraging a good GMAT score and high quality essays to offset this lack. What are you guys think? Do I have a shot? I am also open to suggestions with regards to choice of universities.
Thanks!

Hi,

I am considering applying for MIM from the top 10 programs.

Nationality: Indian, Male, 23
School Education: 10th 85%, 12th 89%
Undergrad: Information Technology (7.5/10 pointers in the Indian system)
GMAT: V27 Q51 -> 650
Work experience: 20 Months as an Analyst at one of the Big4. Work was related to Public Cloud and in semi-client facing role with great rating.
Post Master goals: Job in Strategy/Marketing
Community: I have worked with an NGO for teaching computers/Math to under-privileged village students and have also worked with an institute for Animal Welfare.

How probable/achievable is this with the above profile in the 5th round for 2021-2023?
GMAT Re-attempt would be better and then apply next year? Will 3 years WorkEx affect my MIM goal?

Reviews on INSEAD MIM?

Thanks in advance to the viewers and the community :)

Hi romilshah42,

To begin firstly, you need to understand that a masters in management degree is designed for aspirants with upto maximum 2 years of work experience. However, this clause is much more flexible in European schools (France dominantly) where the upper limit for the duration of work experience can go upto 2.5 years. Taking this into consideration, you have a total of 20 months of work experience which means that you are eligible to apply for the MiM program. That said, it is imperative that you apply in the first round for the 2022 intake in order to maximize your chances as well as fulfil the work experience requirement within the stipulated time.

Moving forward, now lets evaluate your profile which on the first glance looks decent with room for further improvement. Your undergraduate GPA of 7.5 is pretty average while your GMAT score of 650 is a bit on the lower end considering the fact that you aim to apply in the top 10 MiM schools where usually a score of 700+ is suggested to obtain the best outcomes. Therefore, a retake is highly recommended to increase your chances of acceptance.

Moving on to your work experience, you have 20 months of work experience in one of the Big 4 firms which allows you to stand at par with other competitors with similar profiles. Having said that, as it is imperative to stand out from the crowd, you need to elaborate on your professional endeavours by highlighting the kind of projects you undertook, the impacts you created and your major takeaways.

Talking about the extracurriculars, it is again an important aspect of your profile as it helps showcase your holistic development which is something that these B-schools are on the lookout for. Here you have mentioned about your volunteering experience at an NGO which showcases how you are a socially responsible and empathetic individual. To build over this, you can highlight your leadership, teamwork and other major skills through your participation and positions of responsibility at any clubs, societies or events in your college. In addition to this you can also highlight any course or certifications that you have undertaken to showcase your penchant for learning.

Speaking of the schools that you can target, you can consider French schools such as HEC and INSEAD in the dream category (where your chances of acceptance is 40%).
Bocconi, ESCP, ESSEC, ESADE,IE and FSFM in the competitive category (where your chances of acceptance is 50-60%).
EDHEC, GRENOBLE, SKEMA and IESEG in the safe category (where your chances of acceptance is 60-70%).

You can also boost your chances of acceptance by drawing attention to the stronger aspects of your profile which can be achieved through your application. Your application is basically what can differentiate you by highlighting your strengths and overshadowing your weaknesses. You also need to showcase your journey and how you are a great value addition to the school.
