Hi rteja,

Thanks for your Post!

First of all, I would like to congratulate you for achieving such feats at such a young age! You have also mentioned some impressive leadership positions; moreover, you have a good amount of relevant internship experience, and your GPA is also good.

A 690-700 in your GMAT is a decent score and is definitely above the bar for B-schools, as mentioned above. Furthermore, you have joined a startup at an early age, you have seen and contributed to its growth, and you can bring a good narrative out of it. Also, owning a business gives additional points for the risk factor and characterizes you as someone who wants to alter the primitive social systems.

Now, since you have a vast range of experience (including an ongoing digital marketing course), you must highlight the relevant skills developed, your role & responsibilities as an intern, the impact you created, and add professional accolades if any. Coming to your post-MiM goals, you need to be more accurate while mentioning your goals, like what sector or industry, any corporate you would prefer to work for, and vision-related to your company!

All in all, you do have a decent profile and try to score 700+ for the mentioned B-Schools; however, you must understand that all these are top-notch B-Schools that require more than just factual information professional brilliance. Therefore, you need to mesmerize the adcom with your essays, align them with the school values and make a robust profile by adding ECAs and Volunteering services (can use your experience at NGO), and prepare well for your interviews. I find the vast range of your Internships a unique point in your profile and something that I would like to know more about the experience you had, and try to connect it with your NGO experience because I believe that It could be a game-changer in your aspect! You do have a shot at these master’s programs. What’s going to matter most in your profile is how you connect the dots and bring an impactful narrative. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to master's programs. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Hi ak2121,

Thanks for your post!

First of all, I would like to mention that you do have a decent GMAT score; but if you can retake and increase your score by 20 points, your chances will be maximized. Regarding your work experience, you have some experience in startup fields that could be an additional point. I appreciate the most about your profile that even during such somber covid times when the situation was so volatile & risky, you didn’t hesitate to help your community by starting an NPO for plasma donations and links. So that’s a huge plus point on your side.

Now coming to your internships, I feel the need to elaborate more about them, the roles & responsibilities, the work environment, the skill-set developed, and the impact you have created. Also, you should mention the difference in the role you had to play in the two firms started by you.

Furthermore, you haven’t mentioned any ECAs or even your post-MiM goals, so that’s a point I feel I would need more in-depth detail to guide you better down the road. But, again, I would say your professional experience and work during Covid can be a USP on which your whole admission scenario can change if you crafted your essays well!

All in all, I would say that you have a decent profile, but the B-schools you are targeting require more than just academic & professional accolades. Essays are a major part of the overall profile; hence, you need to mold your strong points into stories that would mesmerize the AdComs and prepare well for your interviews. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the schools. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Hi sagaryadav27,

Thanks for your post!

First of all, I would like to congratulate you on backing a 750 in your GMAT; that’s quite exceptional; moreover, you have a perfect 4.00/4.00 GPA and do have a job in hand, which would definitely provide an unimaginable boost to your profile!

I am mesmerized by what you have achieved at such a young age, and I feel that you are a relevant candidate as per GMAT goes. Coming to your ECAs, you have been a student ambassador, an NSS volunteer, plus a state-level cricketer. Hence, I can confer that you could definitely use these as great examples of teamwork & collaboration, leadership, and social justice. Moreover, you also have Data Analytics certification, which showcases your interest in the growth and your hunger for knowledge!

Coming to the problem, internship experience is a crucial segment for your overall MiM profile; however, it’s not irreplaceable, so if you have an overall robust profile with great ECAs (which you do have) and are able to align with the values of programs in your essays, you would definitely book a spot at any top B-School.

Since you are targeting European B-Schools, I must add that the competition will be tough as you belong to an overrepresented pool of candidates. Furthermore, even though you have a decent profile, it has its complexions. So I would like to know more about your job at hand, your experience as a student ambassador, and your ECAs so that together we can build a more robust profile to cement your spot at the top b-school. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Hello everyone, could you please evaluate my profile for the best B-Schools in Europe (St Gallen, HEC, LBS, ESCP, ESSEC, ESADE) MiM Program.
Here's some insight to my profile
20-year old man from India.
I've scored 90% in my class 10th and 12th.
I'll be graduating this year my Bachelor with Major in Mathematics and minor in Statistics in the top university in my country (University of Delhi) with a GPA of 4.00/4.00 (American system) and I'll be joining a local bank as a junior associate after my graduation;
My GMAT score is 750 (V42,Q50)
I have Data Analytics certification using R from John Hopkins University via Coursera and I'm an avid reader for topics related to geopolitics, blockchain(crypto) and universe(space stuff). I'm planning to learn some foreign languages too.
I have no internship experience but I've represented my state in Cricket at National Level and held many position of responsibilities related to college societies & events and I've also been the student ambassador for biggest internship platform for students in my country(though I didn't had any internship experience myself). I've also volunteered for National Service Scheme for one year.
I don't have any student exchange semester either due to Covid situation in my country.

I'm really curious to know if I have a good chance to get in any of the above-mentioned schools or any other school in Europe, thanks a lot for your time!

Hi divyanshu , here's my candid take on your prospects for MiM

You bring a strong experience in content writing and social media advertising through internships and projects. I would like to know your post MiM goals to see how you connect your area of interest with the professional field that you would want to pursue after MiM. It is important that you are able to show research and thorough understanding of how you would be able to leverage learnings from MiM as well as prior experience towards attaining your future goals.

Msc courses are more inclined towards academic appreciation of the focus field. Your undergraduate degree in BBA will certainly support your narrative of wanting to pursue MSc in Economics and Business, however to be able to truly show your passion for appreciating these subjects from an academic viewpoint you will have to give examples of any internships or projects you did in this domain. This aspect seems to be of concern from the limited information you have provided.

As far as career opportunities are concerned you can get into financial sector or consulting after completing your Masters in Eco and BA.

If you wish to seek professional guidance on your application strategy do reach out.

Hi, I am 19, Divyanshu, Indian.

Please evaluate my profile for MiM programmes of: LBS, St. Gallen, HEC Paris, ESSEC, Bocconi, Copenhagen Business School

Currently in my final year of BBA, with an average SGPA of 9.2/10. I have 2 content writing internships, altogether I wrote around 130 articles worth of blog content for websites of companies based in Vietnam, Singapore and India. I will have another internship soon with my college.

Volunteering experience: Volunteered with Green Umbrella and Indochina Starship foundation to teach underprivileged children English, swimming and football over the course of 1 year when I was in Grade 10. (2017)
Also worked with NSS foundation in June of this year to teach children English.
Built social media presence, connected with KOLs to market products and carried out a targeted advertisement campaign on Instagram in association with Nirmaan Organisation to empower underprivileged women.

Created and managed a facebook page for a food delivery business. (Sai Kitchen – Ghar Ki Rasoi)
• Created the page, created content for the page, ran targeted advertisements on a periodic basis.
• Designed a food menu for the page using Photoshop.
• Created 25 posts that reached over 2000 people.
• Ran targeted advertisements that led to a 40% increase in orders.

Also a part of the editorial team for my college newsletter.

I do not have a GMAT score yet. But I am quite confident in my ability to get a decent score on the IELTS.

One more thing, I want to apply for the MSc in Economics and Business Administration AND the MSc In Business Administration and E-business courses of Copenhagen Business School. Please let me know how these courses in terms of their relevance with the job market.

Thanks!

Hi Suhasi , Fair chances of getting an MiM admit from EDHEC, ESCP and ESSEC. Try to improve your GMAT score to at least balance out the quant to a respectable level as an applicant from Indian demographic. Two internships in real estate domain will certainly give you strong leverage if your post MiM goals are rationally aligned with your pre MiM experience and professional interests.
I would have like to see more on the community involvement front as this is one area MiM students can really show their ability to contribute and hustling nature. However to plan ahead on how to portray this aspect with confidence, you can refer to my write up here

https://gmatclub.com/forum/how-to-put-t ... l#p2943926

I feel you would be able to improve on GMAT faster than you would on CAT given that this would be your first attempt. A 670-680 on GMAT will make you a really strong applicant for these colleges.

If you wish to seek professional guidance on your application strategy do reach out.

Suhasi
Hello everybody,
I would like to have my profile evaluated for the following B-Schools in Europe: EDHEC,ESCP, and ESSEC MiM Program.

I am 21y/o from India and I pursued a BBA with a specialization in Real Estate and Urban Infrastructure (GPA 4).

During my undergrad, I was chosen as the only undergraduate VP of the main student committee (the rest were MBAs). I participated in several extra curricular activities (debates, singing, organizing, managing and hosting events, etc.) and won a few.

I have 2 internship experiences. Both were remote experiences due to Covid. One was at a nationally recognized Real Estate Org, and the other was at a Real Estate Startup. My role in the second experience was very broad - a combination of Business Development and Market Strategy.

GMAT 650 but my score is a bit skewed. I'll be taking the CAT exam in India as I've read that these colleges also accept CAT scores for Indian applicants. I'm taking the IELTS next month.

I volunteer for an international company that provides free meditation resources - I help with translations in Indian languages.

I will have two academic and one professional recommendation letter from my internship workplace.

What are my chances at these schools? If yes, are there any more schools in the same ranks that I must be targeting? Will my GMAT Score get me through? If not, what kind of CAT scores must I be aiming for?

Hi mayank91298 , several weak points in your profile that you must fine tune. Your GMAT score is certainly low and you do not have professional or internship experience. This will make it very challenging for you to get attention from any of the top MiM programs.
I suggest you relook at the list of your target schools and most importantly re consider whether you should do MiM in the US where this program is relatively less known.

You do have good extra curriculars so make them the highlight of your application.

Post MiM goals of consulting are dicey given your low GMAT score.

If you wish to seek professional guidance on you application strategy as an Indian applicant, do reach out.

Hello everybody, I would like to request you all to please evaluate my profile.

I am a 22-year-old Indian with a B.tech in Mechanical Engineering from a tier 3 college in India. My GMAT score is 610. I know it is a low score. IELTS band 8. I graduated with a 3.51/4.0 GPA. (converted to USA GPA system by WES)
I do not have professional internship experience but I am a founder of a photography firm that I started during my undergrad and have been running for 3 years until covid hit us. The firm was a success until covid and post covid I could not keep it running due to financial reasons so had to shut it down.
I am an International Yoga Gold medallist and have traveled to Singapore and Indonesia for championships.
Extracurricular Activities:- I was the captain of the Formula Student team of my undergrad university for 2 years. I was the event manager for TEDxDKTETEI which was conducted in 2021. I was the president of the student association during college. I was selected as a driver for the Volkswagen Polo cup Racing event 2020.
I am targetting the MIM programs in UK and US. I had applied to LBS MIM and Fuqua MMS programs but didn't even get shortlisted for the interview.
Please help me evaluate my profile and figure out what I should concentrate more while applying.
I am targetting the consulting industry post MIM and have already worked on a freelance business consulting project for a small bamboo artifact industry in my city.
Thank you in advance.

Hi pinakin2456 , great question! The best specialization for you would depend on your area of interest. For example, even if as an engineer, you can demonstrate your strong passion for Marketing domain supplemented by your side projects and knowledge you developed through reading and engaging with marketers, you could make a compelling case for a specialization in marketing.

A masters in any one of the domains- Finance , Marketing, Strategy and Management will help you to eventually make significant contributions to your family business in India.

An MiM program which is a business management program specifically designed for business minded professionals with less or no work experience is another option you could consider. Depending on your GMAT score, consider what pedigree of institutes would you want to be associated with. Therefore focus on attaining your best possible GMAT score and then shortlist the colleges that suit you the most.

If you wish to seek professional guidance on creating a stellar application do reach out.

Regards

Best wishes

I just want to know as an engineering student in what type of specialization I can join for masters( finance, marketing, management, etc)

how the course is structured in business schools mainly in MIM program and others also.

I am planning to come back to India to join my family business after gaining experience of course. ( peanut butter manufacture and marketing, so finance and marketing will be the main focus point if any other suggestion would love to know. )
don't know what to do in my masters and what will help me most. what will be the best strategy? any recommendation for profit-building for masters. any suggestion is appreciated.

planning on giving GMAT in Jan-2022.

TLDR: B4 to MBB via MiM. Rock-bottom GPA, above-average everything else.

Demographic
    • 25-26 upon matriculation (will graduate from Bachelors at 24)
    • SE Asian male

Post-Undergrad Work Experience
    • Incoming Business Analyst/Associate Consultant at a Big 4 (general management consulting, not strategy arm), aiming to start the Masters with 1-2 years of experience.

Undergrad Work Experience
    • Promoted to a full-time leadership position on one of the biggest-budget projects in my industry and outperformed experienced professionals previously in the same role
    • Worked with clients/partners (including a FAANG) from 4 different countries as a Project Coordinator; also traveled abroad to pitch projects
    • Internship at the first unicorn in my country

Extracurriculars
    • 20+ nonschool leadership roles for my ECs, most notable is that I was promoted to the VP of the university's student council before matriculation
    • 2 short exchanges in Germany and Japan, one paid and the other awarded
    • Freshman project outperformed all senior year theses at the top national competition, plus a few other national awards in my field

Stats
    • 660 GMAT on the official mock with no prep; fairly confident in 700+ (V86% Q40% - gotta brush up my math)
    • 2.3/4 GPA from the top national university - I was majoring in an arts degree where the focus was entirely on portfolio building (100% of recruiting is literally "send links"), and I was struggling with depression and a family financial crisis, but yes, it was irresponsible of me to ignore my grades

Goals/Circumstances
    • Transition to an entry-level role at MBB/T2/B4 strat in my home country or Dubai
    • Fix my low undergrad GPA so I could have a better shot at a top MBA
    • Willing to start over at the Analyst level, as the pay discrepancy between MBB and B4 in my country is almost 4X
    • I don't want to wait 5-6 years for an MBA, so I'm considering a master now
    • As my goal is to target MBB/T2, and due to my financial limitations, it's top schools or nothing at all for me
    • I'm already 24 this year, so I won't consider a two-year program

Target Schools
    • INSEAD MiM
    • HEC Paris MSc Strategic Management
    • IESE MiM
    • St. Gallen SIM
    • ESSEC SMIB

LBS instantly rejected my profile evaluation due to my low GPA, but IESE was very encouraging. I have yet to talk with the rest on the list.

Questions
    1. What are my chances at these programs?
    2. How high of a GMAT should I aim for? IESE said 700+ to even think about scholarships
    3. Is the whole B4 to MiM to MBB/T2 plan rational?
    4. What other programs might suit me?

Please give me some reality check. Many thanks in advance!

Hi Lennor,

Thanks for the post!

First, I would like to say that 660 is a good score, and if you can back 700+, it will maximize your chances and would have a realistic chance for scholarships offered by the school. Your GPA is low, but you have an overall robust profile. All you need to do is align a direction into your profile. Also, your GPA can be compensated with a solid GMAT score.

About your ECAs, you were VP of the university's student council, short exchanges in Germany and Japan, and have won many national awards. You should mention your role & responsibilities as a VC, your experience as an exchange student twice in different countries, and what skill-set you could develop!

For your UG Work Experience, you mentioned some relevant points. So you’ll need to speak about what skill-set you developed that helped you outperform experienced professionals in the same role. Moreover, mention your leadership role in your company and quantify the big projects you have worked upon. Also, describe your role as a Project Coordinator and the impact created during your company’s pitches.

Coming to your question, I don’t find your plan irrational; however, I would require more detail about any company you are targeting, your aspirations, aims, and long-term goals. I believe a MIM degree is perfect for your situation as it would provide enough chance to expand your dimensions. In addition, if you ever think of going for an MBA, you would have an additional advantage over other candidates with a MiM degree!

All in all, you do have a great chance at IESE MiM, St. Gallen MIM, and ESSEC. INSEAD MiM, HEC Paris MSc Strategic Management could be a stretch. However, if you create a compelling application explaining your cause for your low GPA and demonstrate your abilities through your essays, you would have a relevant chance at INSEAD & HEC too! If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the b-schools. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Cheers!

Hello Lennor , working towards improving your quant score in a focused manner will strengthen your chances of making it to the top schools in your list. Having lived through the gmat preparation experience myself, I strongly recommend attempting GMATclub quant mocks and reviewing your weak areas, and I am sure you will see a drastic improvement in only a few weeks.
A 730+ score can get you to compensate for your low GPA in college.

Your ECs and post-undergrad work experience are convincing examples of your well-rounded personality and leadership potential. Definitely bring out instances where you took initiative and led functionality in projects in an international setup. Demonstrate your ability to resolve conflicts and bring people from different backgrounds on the same page to work towards a common goal.

Your post MBA goals sound logical, however, also think through a plan B to show flexibility and openness to explore options. Also to tie the entire narrative together, talk about your passion and motivation for consulting apart from the monetary benefit. Are your goals aspirational as well as inspirational? Do you wish to solve a bigger problem in the long term? How would you like to leverage the experience of consulting in the long term? What is your vision for yourself in the long term? These are some of the underlying questions schools such as INSEAD and HEC expect their applicants to address.

And yes, at BA level positions a switch from B4 to MBB is definitely possible given you are able to prove your capabilities.

If you wish to seek professional guidance kindly reach out.

Best wishes

Hi brazilianEng00,

Thanks for the post

First, I would like to say that 660 is a good score; moreover, a GPA of 3.5 provides you a realistic chance at any school. Also, I can see you have some internship experiences that could be used to quote any examples of Leadership, skill-set, and impact created by you. Moreover, you have some fundraising experience; hence, that could be used to characterize your sense of social service & social justice.

Now for the schools such as Michigan Boston University, you need more than a robust profile and factual accolades like GMAT to be successfully enrolled in the MIM program. Moreover, you need to work on the essay questions provided by the school to try and align them with school values.

At present, I would require more information to understand the full potential of your profile in full-length and determine the school accordingly based on several factors like academic&professional accolades, ECAs, and your role& responsibilities as an intern. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your essays, ECAs, and your internship in length and help you understand further chances to the schools. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Tackle your MiM Application for R3 and Later rounds

Hi anmol2005
The schools you are targeting are competitive. Overall you seem to be a strong candidate and I hope this evaluation would be helpful. The aspects most relevant for an MSc Finance applicant at top schools are

• academic focus: Getting a competitive GMAT score is important. Target a 710+. You should talk about your academic achievements, scholarships, and recognition (if any) to demonstrate a strong academic inclination.

• Proof of enthusiasm and motivation for the study of the subject :
What I like about your profile is that you have a finance specialization and work experience in IB. To give context around your choice of métier, talk about being passionate about business studies and finance since early, and supplement your interest with examples of courses or internships you did. Reflect on how you found a job that put you on the right track for your IB goals.

• Super curricular – Want to make a favorable impression? Talk about any supplementary books, articles, research papers, newspapers you read, and podcasts you listen to. How do these activities support and complement your interest in the subject?

I advise you to cover this point well in your sops

• Extra-Curricular
You are actively involved in an NGO. What are you truly passionate about outside of work?
Reflect on the transferrable skills from these experiences that will help you achieve goals in future as a business/finance leader

Other points to keep in mind
• Show originality and thought process in your application
• Show active engagement with the target schools

If you wish to seek professional guidance do reach out.

Hi mmanom,

Thanks for your post!

Your 640 GMAT definitely clears the bar for GMAT for both Schools. Also, you do have a good overall GPA, and a dual-degree at such a young age is also an achievement. Having a Bachelor's degree in business administration is great since Mannheim's MiM requires candidates to have prior knowledge in business administration. Moreover, while not being a prerequisite for admission, a GMAT score of 600+ does increase your chances of admission. However, I would like to know more about your semester abroad since a semester abroad/ special qualifications in the fields of data analytics or sustainability would further boost your chances at Mannheim.

Coming to CEMS MiM, CEMS seeks students from much diverse academic backgrounds, with academically stellar profiles, and those who are committed to showing professional responsibility and accountability concerning society as a whole. In brief, for CEMS, volunteering work, individual or team projects, and other relevant experiences are highly recommended. You would need to work on these aspects before applying at CEMS

Overall, I would say your profile is more tilted towards Mannheim; however, getting the motivation video for CEMS right could increase your chances of admission. The video requires you to describe, how will you contribute to the CEMS MIM program, a personal experience of success & failure, and your learning from them? This is where we could help you create an impact by mesmerizing the adcom!

What’s going to matter most in your profile is how you connect the dots and craft an impactful narrative. Hence, If you'd like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the schools. Feel free to book a free session with us at your convenience.

Dear Experts / All,
Please find my profile below.

Age: 30
Nationality: Indian
College: IIT Roorkee
Degree: B.Tech
Work experience: 7+ years, in startups and Product Manager. Have started up a firm earlier.
GMAT: 700 (Quant 51)
No Work experience in finance directly. Interested in MiF, or MiM in finance.
My Maths is strong from earlier, and I have interest in Finance and want to do MiF, MiM to enter the finance domain. But as mentioned, no experience in finance.
I wanted to understand, are colleges open to consider relatively older candidates such as myself for the same. Which colleges should I try, that have higher chances?

I would be thankful for any response, feedback, comment.

Hello flyingadn

Thank you for posting your query here. However, I would like to clarify a few aspects in your query.

1. MIM program is specifically for people with less or no experience. You do not qualify for a MIM program but you
could consider an MBA program for sure.

2. MiF - specifically has students with all kinds of experience. However, for someone who has spent 7 years as a product manager moving into a Finance role and
completely changing the industry will require a little more convincing. Remember you would be competing with people who are applying with Finance backgrounds or have worked in this industry. Again the student or the cohort experience and age might be a lot lower.

My suggestion :
Do check out MBA programs. If you are looking at a career in Management and changing your industry completely to Finance, it is possible with an MBA program too.
However, you would need to show why you think you can be employable with this kind of change.

Do take GMAT to begin with and discuss you profile in detail to get more clarity. You can fill in the https://www.crackverbal.com/profile-evaluation/ form, or PM for help.

Here is a YouTube video that talks about doing an MBA after 30 :

Here are some interesting articles to go through: https://www.crackverbal.com/resources/4 ... l-profile/

Shree
