Attended a webinar on Thursday and as per MIT :
1. R1 applicant will heard back from MIT by the end of December, but what they hear can be; their applications will not be taken further, or they cleared the initial assessment and their interview will held in Jan/Feb etc.. In other words the answer might not be a clear cut yes or no.
2. R2 international aplicants will also start getting invites by the end of December
3. Those who applies in R3 before end of December also might receives invite to be interviewed at international locations (provided they apply before the travel schedule of adcom is finalized). So if there are any international student who missed R2, they should apply ASAP if they want to avail an interview outside USA.

Experiences questions: When you felt you failed? What did you learn from it?... Examples about some projects you

My main an only tip is to read essays again and be yourself. I felt that interview was all about getting to know the candidate better ... with no "tricky questions"

Main Topics:

Pretty relaxed overall. They expect short and crisp answers, not long narratives. I tripped on this. I was quickly guided back on track from the interviewer. :-)

Overall, went quite OK. There is one final step in the process left - final 15 mins discussion/interview with the program director.

I had not ready about this in any forum before so I am nervous as to why... Has anybody else received this invite? RufforBP :?:

I had no idea there was such stage in the process? Maybe not for all candidates??

Thank you Swesloan for the detailed writeup

I guess chat with director means that you have cleared the interview/selected but a final nod from Director is required before they offer you the admission. I am sure you & RufforBP will clear this last hurdle as well. (Never heard about it in last year's forum so perhaps this is something new starting this year :shock:

)
By the way how many interviewers were in the panel? Your interview with Director will also be on Skype? Have you received the invite for final interview?

Hmm..i have had my interview and as you all earlier mentioned, i was informed about another stage with the program Director. However, i was not given a date for this meeting at the interview. Has anyone gotten a date?
