Explanation:

There are three different combinations of teams: 3 Senior/0 Manager, 2 Senior/1 Manager, 1 Senior/2 Manager.

3 Senior/0 Manager - Only one possible combination

2 Senior/1 Manager - 3C2 = 3 Senior combinations, 5C1 = 5 Manager combinations ---> 3x5 = 15

1 Senior/2 Manager - 3C1 =3 Senior combinations, 5C2 = 10 Manager combinations ---> 3x10 = 30

1+15+30 = 46

=8C3 - 5C3

= 46

I don't know why I though that all senior managing directors were also managing directors, i.e., one is a subset of the other? Perhaps I was just over thinking. Anyways, I understand the solution now. Thank you.
