I have added some additional details.

Shubham7330 - well done on the quant!

Some more details can help assess your profile and accordingly the strength of your GMAT score better:

- How were your undergrad grades, and which university did you attend?
- On the professional front, how many years work-ex do you have, which companies/ roles, etc.?
- Any extracurriculars worth highlighting?
- Which schools are you looking at?

Hope this gives you an indication on what areas are being assessed in addition to the score.

Feel free to reach out for a detailed discussion.

Hello folks,
I gave my first attempt on GMAT Focus today, after months of preparation, and got a score of 665.
Sectional Scores: Q90, V82, D77.
It was surprising to see that my Quant score was perfect. In mocks, my Verbal was upto 85 percentile and DI was between 80th and 90th percentile, and quant was around Q80-84. I wanted an opinion on these scores, considering I don't come from an Engineering Background.
I am going to begin exploring the application part now for class of 2026, and I wanted an opinion should I appear again?
Is this score is good enough for top competitive schools?
How should I be approaching my applications now?

Thanks in advance

Hi Shubham7330,

Whether this score is enough depends on the schools you are targeting. Your existing score will give you a good chance at most German schools and all the UK programs barring the top 3.

Having said the above, you might want to consider a retake considering this was only your first attempt. Also, if you were scoring higher on the mocks, it makes sense to give yourself another chance.

You have some time in hand; thus, we hope you put your best foot forward.

We encourage you to inquire with us so we can schedule a free strategy session for guiding you.

Thanks and all the best!

Edit-
My undergrad college was the amongst the top 10 colleges of India, and I graduated with first division, 8.2/10 CGPA (non engineering)

I have 3 yr 10 months of corporate experience, where I was promoted twice, with fastrack promotion program underway before I left (mentioned in my LOR), my last designation was Lead Consultant (Senior Business Analyst). I worked for an IT Company. Currently I’m getting my hands in my family business before I step into B-School.

For Extracurriculars- I won a number of dance competitions in my college days, and recently I took up running, so I have participation medals from running events.
Recently I’ve joined a NGO for teaching poor kids.

I haven’t looked to deep into B’schools, but I have a preference for 1 year MBA from top European Union/UK schools. I was thinking about Germany or Ireland, but I’m pretty much open.

Shubham7330 - thanks for the updates.Your profile shows potential, considering the work-ex, academics and ECAs.

Schools such as INSEAD/ HEC/ IESE would be a bit on the 'Ambitious' side considering the current score. However, some UK schools (Oxbridge, Imperial, Alliance Manchester, etc.), German schools (Mannheim, ESMT, etc.) and other EU programs (e.g. IMD, SDA, ESADE, etc.) could be looked at.

The right mix of schools would depend on further factors including deeper aspects of your profile, goals, and personal/ financial preferences.
