After doing the calculation,
in the beginning Patrick has 'P' chickens = 250
in the beginning Tobias has 'T' chickens = 60

Hence the difference is 250-60 = 190.

Tobias will have 120 chickens after 6 years.

P adds 20, T adds 10

After 6 years T6 = T + 60 = 2T ; T(Now) = 60; T(6) = 120

P(6) = P + 120;
P(6) = 120*3 + 10 = 370;
P(Now) = 250

Difference = 190.

Once each year, Patrick adds 20 new chickens to his farm and Tobias adds 10 to his. If no chickens are removed from the farms, the size of Tobias’ chicken farm will have doubled in six years, at which point Patrick will have ten more than three times as many chickens as Tobias. How many more chickens than Tobias does Patrick have right now?

A. 100
B. 130
C. 190
D. 250
E. 310

We can let x = the current number of chickens in Tobias’s farm. Since we are given that he adds 10 chickens to his farm each year and the number of chickens will double in 6 years, we can create the following equation to determine x:

x + 6(10) = 2x

60 = x

So we know Tobias has 60 chickens currently, and in six years, he will have 120 chickens.

We can let y = the current number of chickens on Patrick’s farm. Since we are given that he adds 20 chickens to his farm each year and the number of chickens he will have in 6 years is ten more than three times as many chickens as Tobias will have, we can create the following equation to determine y:

y + 6(20) = 3(120) + 10

y + 120 = 370

y = 250

Therefore, Patrick currently has 250 - 60 = 190 chickens more than Tobias.

All these chicken additions are hypothetical and planned for the future. Therefore, "right now" actually means "at the start," before these additions occur.
