Hi all,

I sat for my exam today and had technical issues during the quant portion of the exam. I was about 3 questions through the exam when a DS question appears on my screen without showing the two fact patterns that need to be used to answer the question. I noticed this about 10 seconds into the question, notified my proctor, and had to sit through five minutes of lost time. Eventually, my proctor was able to figure out that my exam could be paused. However, I lost a solid 5 minutes to do my proctors inability to pause the test immediately. Then, a few minutes later, the same instance occurred where i was unable to see the whole question. I lost another 30-45 seconds in this instance.

To sum, I lost about 6 minutes during the Quant section due to technical issues. While I technically "finished the section on time", I was forced to skip certain questions and modify my overall test strategy due to the delay. The average Quant strategy tells a tester to take about 2 minutes per question (or 8 minutes for sets of 4 questions), so clearly the loss of 6 minutes is a big deal and not a fair trial.

I emailed GMAT after my test and hoping to have the issue resolved, but definitely wanted to show my experience through the forum. The rest of the experience was great.

Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Sorry to hear about the lost time… it is super annoying and in the past GMAC just ignored the complaints since the test technically finished 🤦‍♂️

PS. How was your score? Were you happy with it or happy enough?

Yea I followed up with them and waiting for a response from someone. I was told by Examity (the vendor) that I need to go to GMAC for a refund and GMAC (via Pearson) told me that I need to go through Examity. Either way, I was given an unfair playing field which did result in a lower Quant score than I have been testing around in practice exams. Losing that time made me completely alter my strategy which was definitely something that I was not expecting to have to do. The Q score is definitely not representative of my potential so I will need to take the test again.

If anyone finds themselves in the same situation, tell the proctor to pause your exam ("x") in the top right. I lost 6-7 mins on my exam because my proctor didn't know how to do it.

Technical Error !
This is what came up in the status section of my GMAT exam. I was supposed to give my GMAT exam on 26th May at 11am but my screen turned completely white and hung up at least 5 times. The proctor and the support team member from GMAC tried to assist me for 4 hours but we didn’t manage. On my GMAT account it said that my scores are pending but on the examity website it said that my exam was incomplete.I was told to contact the examity team to reschedule my exam, but after trying for more than a day contacting the examity support team, I was told only the GMAT support team can reschedule my appoint. As of now, I am awaiting a response from the GMAT team !
FYI I’m still recovering from Corona.
I need to submit my score in 7 days and my exam has still not been scheduled.

Hello Folks, I had a similar experience yesterday, way too many technical glitches. I was trying to choose an answer choice, but the system wasn't responding at all. Wasted my 10 mins in the verbal section. Then I took a break and once back could not end my break, it took away time from my quant section. Then again the same thing happened, I was unable to choose the right answer for the next 10 mins and proctor was not able to help me out. She finally cancelled my exam.
I have been trying to reach out to the support team for a retake. But the examity folks tell me its an issue that gmac can take a call on and gmac isn't responding to my emails so far.

Any suggestion here on how I can proceed? I believe I deserve a retake (This was my 2nd gmat online attempt, so have exhausted all possible online attempts)

Took my exam online on 5/31 and had very odd issues.

1. The system was very laggy once the test began. There were instances where I could not select the radio buttons or had to click 10+ times on a button for it to work. The screen would freeze during this for up to 30 seconds at a time.

2. During the first question of the quant section, my screen flashed and switched to the screen with the break, after clicking next it switched to integrated reasoning, skipping quant. Somehow after maybe 30 sec it went back to the quant section to my question, but my timer was reduced. The same glitch happened during the integrated reasoning section - it switched over to AWA but eventually returned back.

3. Additionally, due to the delayed response of the system I would get 4-5 pop ups of the “are you sure you have finished selecting the answer”. During each pop up, the screen would freeze, not allowing me to continue working on the problems for a significant amount of time.

Already emailed gmac, no answer yet.
I think most annoyingly though, my proctor would keep talking with instructions after my section would start.

Zhenya0258 sorry to hear that even you had such a terrible experience with the online test. Have you received any response yet from GMAC?

Its been almost 5 days and I haven't heard back from them. Sent a reminder email as well.

Thank you, it was so disheartening to be honest. Sorry about your issues as well.
No response yet. :(
I’ve sent my email to both support@examity.com and customercare@gmac.com.

Did I send to the right email? Or is there another way you recommend reaching out to GMAC?

Can you respond if and when you receive a response back from GMAC? Its been 5 days and I haven't heard back anything from them.

This was my 2nd online attempt and hence not eligible for anymore. I desperately need this retake :(

Yes, will post here as soon as I hear back.
Did you have issues both of your attempts or just this second time?

Just this one time. My earlier attempt was in Feb, the previous online system. (Was pretty smooth for me)
