(A) the program will trace program doesnt "open"
(B) the program shall trace
(C) there will be a program tracing
(D) it is a program that traces
(E) it will be a program tracing

between D and E im inclined to go for E because it keeps with future tense

If it was just the opening, I'd have gone with A - Since the sentence says opening and closing ... indicating that the action is in continuous .. I'll have to choose E

IMO D

Opening with tributes to jazz-age divas like Bessie Smith and closing with Koko Taylor’s electrified gravel-and-thunder songs, the program will trace the blues’ vigorous matriarchal line over more than 50 years.
(A) the program will trace --> the context is about an event happening in the present time, so any future detail is incorrect
(B) the program shall trace --> same as A
(C) there will be a program tracing --> same
(D) it is a program that traces -->the best
(E) it will be a program tracing --> same

I would go with A since 'Opening' will modify 'the program' . I would reject D and E since 'it' is confusing.........btw, what is the OG?

I will go with B rather than A.

"Opening" and "closing" should modify program.

C, D, E are wrong because there is a modifier error. The noun, programs is too far from the modifying phrase. Between A and B, B can be rejected because of th use of shall which is unidiomatic. So the answer is A.

OA Please..

Just looked at past posts on this one, appears OA is A. I thought there was some trick here, I guess not

Its a simple will Vs shall as all others can be eliminated by the first look itself(program should be modified here rather than anything else)

My answer is A.
Opening ...and closing.., need to modify the object/noun that is doing the function of opening and closing, that is the program.
Between shall and will, 'will' will win on the GMAT.
