applied and dinged at judge w/o interview. considering i got accepted in and getting interviews at schools waaaay higher up the totem pole, i find this weird. but c'est la vie.
I think this is something typical for Judge. Seems like a lot of promising applicants get dinged and thus it would appear it's very difficult to get in. The amount of applications recieived at the school keeps rising, but their ranking doesn't. I'm very curious about what kind of people they really are looking for - it's almost like they'd have a strategy of some kind.

what are people's views on telephonic v/s face to face?
I've done three telephonic interviews so far and I must say I prefer face to face. Haven't done a single b-school face to face interview sofar, but obviously other interviews during the course of my life.

With telephones you never know if the connection is bad, or if they put you on speaker and there are other people in the room. Also, a speaker phone can screw up the connection, too. It's really difficult to conduct an interview when you hear yourself speak with half a second's time lag - it's very confusing.
Also, face to face you get to really market yourself as a pleasant and ambitious person - the way you shake hands, smile, appear confident, and sit in your chair. If you're good with people it's probably easier to make contact with the adcom that way than by telephone.
That said, telephonic interviews are made and people do get admitted.
