Hello everyone,

I am yet to start with my application for Schulich, is it too late for the fall 2017 intake?

The Round 1 deadline is in Jan 15 and R2 deadline is near Feb end. However, if you have finalised the college then you should start the process earlier to improve your chances. On the other hand, submit the application only when you are satisfied with your essays.

Hello everyone, any of you considering the India program? I met their admissions director (Imran Kanga) and he shared that almost 90% of their 6 graduating classes from the MBA in India program are continuing to work in Canada. If the program is 12-13 lakhs cheaper, I am wondering if there is a catch somewhere, thoughts?

I have heard it's increasingly difficult to find a job if you do your first year in India. Eventually you may find a job in Canada but it will need effort because you start networking only after you step in Canada.

Hi Guys,

Great hearing the stories of everyone here... Pity I only discovered this site today! I have a couple of questions regarding the full time MBA program at Schulich:

- Do TOEFL scores need to be sent for UG students from IITs from India?
- Are there any requirements about the referees... I don't see any useful link on the site. Do they have to be from the last 2-3 years of WE?

Would appreciate any response!

Thanks.

Hello Cyclops11
TOEFL is not required for you I think. Others in the forum can confirm. Check the link below for more details on references. Personally, I would prefer asking someone who knows me closely.

^^

There are two video essays.for each question,u will get around 45-60 seconds to prepare the response and 90 seconds to answer.Questions are very random(no specific set of questions) and hence the only think you can do is to practise some situational questions in the mirror and review your responses.
There is one timed written response . Time limit will be of 5 mins and it will be a small essay to write(max 250 words).Again pretty random stuff here.

message me if u need more details

Guys any idea how many who are registered on this thread have got admissions and how many have submitted applications so far. I just came to know during admission fare that Schulich has admissions on rolling basis. I am planning to submit my application in 3-4 days.
I will focus on Tech Consulting and Operations and information systems. I am still not sure in which direction I want my career, so would exlore the possibilities during my MBA.
I heard in Schulich we can mix the electives and can create our own specialisation

I spoke with an alumni from their India program - Ashvini Kumaraswamy. She mentioned that the school has added more to the Career support for the India students. They have started hooking up people with alumni mentors, career advisors and from next cohort onwards will have dedicated staff to scout for internships. I am sure the barrier to networking still remains before one moves to Canada, but I also honestly doubt that one cannot catch up...and if 90% of them are working in Canada, that is a good confidence booster for me...best of luck.

Re: Calling all Schulich (York) MBA Fall Applicants: September 2017 Intake [#permalink]
Hey Guys, just completed 6 years in sports and event management. GMAT was alright, was doing rather well in my mocks, on test day somehow did not hit the magical 700 mark (got a 680).

Looking at Rotman, Schulich/Schulich India (Sep 17) and Queen's (Jan 18).

I know this is a done to death question, but really can anyone tell me what makes Rotman better than Schulich? If they are getting the same employers and Schulich is 10K cheaper and a shorter duration program, than why Rotman? I could not find this in the above posts.

Queen's I have heard is great for consulting with great salaries but the class size is small, making it even more competitive. Never gets easy for us, haha.

I spoke to the alumni of Schulich India, Schulich Toronto and Rotman and all had good things to say which made me wonder even more. All of them also said the job market is quite tough, Canada is just not growing fast enough. Rotman guy said Schulich is better on your pockets as the $$ you earn after the MBA are almost the same. Schulich Toronto guy says India is even better on the pocket and you get a bit of special treatment cause the school is craving to make the program a bigger success and the India guys when they move to Toronto take some time to adjust and network, but find the same roles while save about 20K in tuition and living. The flipside is year 1 in India has all Indians only.

Thoughts??
