As an FYI to all R-1 and future Round applicants, if you are a re applicant or submitted your GMAT/GRE test scores to UT more than 12 months ago, you would need to submit them again by going through the test vendor. I learnt of this earlier this week and lucky enough for me my application was submitted on October 6 so I had just the right amount of time to find this out and pay the vendor to send the test scores again on Oct. 9th.

To give a background, I was admitted to the Class of 2016 but had to defer an MBA to a later date for personal reasons. When I started my application this time around, my GMAT score was already populated and marked as "verified by GIAC in 2013". However, once I submitted the application, paid the application fee and submitted my transcripts the GMAT status on GIAC was still incomplete. Upon contacting GIAC, I was informed that they purge all transcript and test score records after 12 months so even though my application checklist over at the program had GMAT scores checked off as "GMAT Score Report Received by UT-GIAC", GIAC no longer had that record. Luckily for me the folks at GIAC and the admission ambassadors over at McCombs were extremely quick and helpful and I was able to re-submit my test scores ahead of the R-1 deadline. While this is the only section that still shows up as incomplete on my GIAC My Status page, it does appear that there is a lag between when the program and GIAC receive the test scores electronically and when they link it to your application.

The program requires that the test scores be sent out prior to the application deadline and verification can sometimes take a week or 2. As long as you have done your bit i.e. paid PV or your GRE vendor to send the scores out by the round deadline you still meet all the requirements. I just wanted to put that out there in case there are others that may have taken the GMAT more than 12-months ago and asked their scores to be sent out to UT at the time of taking the test. If so, or if you are a re-applicant, please check with GIAC to see whether your scores are still in the system.

Good luck to everyone applying in R-1 and later rounds! Based on last year's thread, it seems that interview invites should start rolling in around 10-12 days after the round deadline of Oct. 10. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Okay, I made the payment now. But I am not sure why the portal is saying Official Transcript is missing. When I am trying to upload the same, it shows your University transcript is already with us.

Any idea anyone?

Someone has to physically check to make sure that your transcript is one that they can use. So if you already uploaded you will have to wait a day or so for it to be accepted

Thank you. I sent them an email just to make sure I am not missing anything. I will wait for their response. :)

My case is strange because for everyone else this is not the case.

I think FuturePM91 has accurately described the process. When I uploaded my transcripts (GIAC) it took a couple of days for that section in GIAC to show up as "Done". Someone must be going over the submission to see that it meets their requirement and is an official transcript, is recent enough, scans have front and back etc. etc.

Was this on the FT Application Status portal or GIAC?

Mine also says in review. I don't think it means anything other than you have everything in and it's ready to be read.

I have a TOEFL waiver. Not sure why it is still asking me for the test scores, does that go away after some time?

Thanks for that clarification. My Status at GIAC still reads incomplete because the GMAT score was only sent to them electronically on 10/9 so it has not yet been linked to the application. This can take up to 3 weeks iirc. I suspect the processing of the application by McCombs will continue since they have the self-reported test score and the program information claims that documents must be completed with GIAC before a decision on the application is rendered which I think pertains to the final decision and not the application review process or an interview invite or ding.

Hi! I read that you are a re-applicant because you had to defer for personal reasons...I am just curious how you feel about your chances of getting admitted again by UT and what other schools you are applying to this time? I am assuming they didn't grant a deferral if you have to apply again.

I don't think that having been admitted earlier impacts my application either way. My chances would be based on the strength of my current application and fit. This time, I have applied to Mccombs and UW Foster, both programs and cities I want to be in for both professional development reasons and from a personal and family reasons. McCombs is a great program and having met many alumni since 2013 my belief in that has only grown. Would have loved to have attended in 2014 but sometimes life happens!

I 100% agree with you that it shouldn't and that life happens...my sister had to defer for law school this year so I was just curious as to whether or not you had talked to someone about if that is how the school sees it?

When I decided to not attend, I was certain that I wouldn't be able to attend as part of the class of 2017 and as McCombs only granted deferments for the next year(this was on their admission FAQs at the time iirc, not sure if it still is but most likely) I did not request it. Since it has been four years, this cycle, I decided to focus on the application since I have grown professionally in that time frame. Same with Duke.I did not apply there this time because I feel I would fit better at McCombs given my interactions with McCombs graduates that I have met, faculty strengths, and the overall culture of the school.

Just got dinged because I hold a 3-year bachelor of comp sci degree from Australia. What a shocking turn of events... In an era where top schools, such as HBS, acknowledge a 3-year Australian degree, McCombs continues to dwell in the past...
