I see that everyone is talking about MIT starting from highest GMAT and working their way down, is this the case?
If yes, then GMAT carries a lot of weight, more than what I thought it would.

Indian invites went out a week ago. Interviews are from 6th to 9th Nov.

Interview invites have been going out every Thursday for MIT, I wanted to ask if anyone received an invite today.

Yes, invites for New Delhi location went out last week. At least 8 people reported their interview invites.

No, I don't think MIT starts from highest GMAT or for that matter any college. But yes, for Indian applicants I am told that GMAT does serve as a filter to evaluate applications as there are a lot of Indian applicants and it is almost impossible to go through all applications. So they filter out applicants below a certain GMAT score. According to Rajat Sadana, who regularly attends adcom conferences, said that one of the admission diectors from a top 10 US college said that for Indians to have a good chance, they need at least a 730. But then again I saw a 720 Indian invite for kellogg. We can only suspect.

Agree with all of this!

I think when it comes to super competitive candidate pools (i.e. not me) GMAT can become much more important.

Yes, and it makes sense as well. With so many applicants, adcom can have a similar profile with a better score so why not go with the better score if the profiles are similar. I am pretty sure for a 730 score IT profile they can easily find a similar profile with a 750 or a 760. So, unless you have a unique profile, GMAT score becomes really really important.

So does that mean no more invites for Indian applicants? or is there still a chance?

Hard to say. I am still hopeful though. :-)

It is not Thursday yet at MIT, invites will come in 9 hours. When I was booking my interview, almost all the interview slots were filled. However, there is no benefit in losing hope, there can still be 4-5 invites to go out of the 32 total slots.

Has anyone received an email stating that they have not been shortlisted?
Has anyone seen a change in their online application status?
Thanks

I saw two accepted reports on livewire just now. Does anyone know if admission decision is provided on a rolling basis?
