A mining team made a plan to mine up to 300 m in a certain number of days. After working as per plan for 5 days, they added new members to the team and hence could mine 5 m more per day. In this way, 4 days before the planned date, they had mined 295 m. How many meters of mining was initially planned for each day?

A. 30 m
B. 12.5 m
C. 15 m
D. 7.5 m
E. 2.5m

in this ques : if we make the equation as >> ( 300/x + 5 )*(x-4+1) = 300

i get the answer as x = 15, so 300/15 = 20.

I did + 1 because they completed 295 4 days before so for 300m , 3 days before. whats wrong..

I don’t think this is the correct equation. This is the equation

(1500/x)+(300/x+5)(x-9)=295

Where x is the total number of days. See if you are able to make a sense of this equation. Solving this should give you x=20, and then 300/20 would be 15

A. 30 m
B. 12.5 m
C. 15 m
D. 7.5 m
E. 2.5m
Alternate approach

efficiency = *a* mt /day
total *t* days
a*t = 300
a*5 + (a+5)*(t-4-5)=295
a5+at -a9 +5t -45 = 295
300 -a4 +5t = 340

5t -a4 = 40___ equation

putting options
a = 30 ,so t = 31, 31*30=900+ #
a = 12.5. t = 18. 18*12.5 = 225 #
a = 15 t = 20 ___15*20=300
hence. a= 15 m/day

Can also be :

295 = 5x + (x+5) ((300/x)-9)

Here the conclusion is hearing w/o oral argument will increase the no. of cases court will decide for next year , Option B talks about last year which is not the point of contention here wrong choice , Option C is about the max working hour which is not mentioned in the stem , Option D is Small cases is still heard but the hour is still high , Option E is about being expensive is subjective , Option A is talking about the time court spent it still takes a lot of time to decide a case which if true will not help to increase the cases as court will still spend time deciding (hope it make sense) , you can also go by negation of assumption will get the answer

is there any other approach to it instead of factors with options ?
