Hi
Naksaa,
Thanks for your Post!
First, I would like to congratulate you on backing a 750 in your GMAT, and I am most definite that it would provide an overall boost to your candidature. Regarding your work experience, the school adCom likes to see evidence of growth, discipline, and leadership when examining a candidate's resume. The adcom doesn't look for a specific number of years of work experience but rather the quality of work and professional maturity. Your profile should indicate increases in responsibility as it is helpful to see progression in responsibilities that are often reflected in project leadership or management roles. So as far as you are concerned with your work experience, I would say that you must highlight promotions, critical projects, leadership roles, or management roles or any skill-set relevant that would help you during your MBA.(with 12 years of work tenure, I don’t think there would be any scarcity of unique examples)
Also, you have volunteering experience in an NGO and were a students secretary. Now what I would like you to do is share your experience in being a volunteer and student secretary, try and highlight each important aspect of your role, the impact you created, and the sense of justice achieved!
However, since you are from an over-represented pool, you require more than good scores and work experience; you need to make sure that your essays are unique & well written, try to align your profile with the school values, and draft examples accordingly.
Many schools are open to high work experience, but they will try to understand your motivation, reason, and timing for an MBA at this stage to see whether it will benefit you or not. You can also pursue an EMBA or a one-year MBA. You may want to read an article on
top 1 yr MBA programs in the US, you will get some insights.
If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the schools. Feel free to
book a free session with us as per your convenience.
Cheers!
