Hi,

I am 26 year old female. I wish to apply to ISB hyderabad PGP program as it is the only one which accepts candidates below 5 years of experience.

Education: Bachelor's of Engineering from Mumbai University 7.6 GPA

10th : 89% state board
12th : 80% state board

GMAT : Haven't taken yet but mocks scores are 700,720,710

Job details : Total experience 3.4 years

2016-2017 : Software developer in a startup founded by ex-Edelweiss CTO. Though my designation was software developer I've done project management, client meetings and have led the team in developing critical banking project for one of the biggest bank in India

2017-2019: Worked as Business Analyst in Capital Markets and Broking Domain with Angel Broking. I worked on a trading product and looked after all its development planning and coordinated with the software developers to make the product live

2019-current : Working with IT services firm as Senior Business Analyst. I have initiated the project and its with the national depository in India. It will change how the educational documents are processed by all government and private firms in India.
You can consider it like Aadhaar for educational qualification. The product is still in development phase and will take time.

Certifications:

1) NISM depository Operations Certification
2) Certified Business Analyst

International Experience : None

Other experiences :

1) Cofounded a software development company while in college. I looked after the project management and assignment part to the freelance developers and make sure the projects are delivered properly and as per requirements given by clients. The startup was shut operations as my partner left for international opportunity.

2) Worked on family business which was a parcel kitchen restaurant. I looked after digital marketing.

----------------------

Post-MBA Goal: I want to get into product management role with product companies. I also have capital markets knowledge hence financial management role will also work for me.

Kindly review my profile and also suggest other one year MBA programs if I fit in them. I am trying to apply for third round or next year

Thanks

Hi paU1i

Though you come from a technology background, you have some differentiated projects by way of application that will help you stand apart.
- Overall work experience is fine, though more technology oriented. The Business Analyst certification helps.
- The entrepreneurial/family business stints are nice add-ons.
- Acads are fine. 7.6 is actually quite good for Mumbai University.
- No details on your ECA here so cannot comment on those. Please provide some details for an assessment of those.
- Aim for a GMAT as much over 700 as possible. 710+ will give you the feasibility to apply.

Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more queries as needed.

Hi Gyanone,

Thanks for your reply.

As extra curriculars I work in a NGO for past 2 years which is related to mental health. I am one of the founding members of the NGO. Other than that I don't have much extra curriculars.

If possible can you also please recommend me some other one year mba schools based on my end goal and profile?

Hi paU1i

Founding an NGO is a plus. Will help on the ECA front. You might also want to showcase other ECAs to show a well-rounded profile. For other schools, as this thread is only for ISB, will respond to you on this thread.

Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more queries as needed.

Just a last query, what other ECAs will help?
As I mentioned I don't have much extracurriculars which are worth showcasing.
I do have few appreciation certifications and have been creative head in college festival but don't have much proofs to prove that.

Hi Aman1012

Thanks for writing in and apologies for the delayed response.

Your experience with TCS, particularly on the leadership front, will definitely add value to your case; at the same time, your progress with the CFA, experience with CSR, and involvement with Toastmasters will provide you with additional talking points.

While no GMAT score can guarantee an interview call or a subsequent admit (and the Ad Com will look at your application as a whole), you should definitely look for a score in excess of 710 to give you a competitive chance; needless to say, the higher the score, the better your chances will be.

Once the GMAT is out of the way, do focus on putting forth a well-rounded application, complete with a set of well-written essays :-)

Hope this helps!

All the best!
