GMAT story -
Attempted GMAT in 2015 for the first time and scored 650. Applied to Kelley and IESE. Got call from IESE, but dinged after interview. Dropped GMAT plan later on as I got a good raise in salary, and nice job role.
Now, my company wants me to go for MBA as my manager thinks that I'm a potential candidate for Leadership program. My company is agree to give me sabbatical and hire me again after MBA. But their only condition is that I should complete my MBA from a 'TOP' B-School. Another issue is that I'm on I-140 and cannot pursue MBA from USA as it will mess up my immigration case according to my lawyer.
Long story short, I'm going to attempt GMAT again next month and will be applying to EU or ASIAN schools. My targets are - IESE, Oxford, Judge, HEC, INSEAD, HKUST and IMD.
My question -
1. What minimum GMAT score should I target?
In reviewing avg GMATs- The ranking avgs are roughly: INSEAD:
702, Oxford 690, HEC Paris 690, (HEC Montreal =~ 630), Judge 684, HKUST and IMD: 670. Now if you just roughly assume that being in a very crowded applicant pool it might help you to be 20 points OVER the average for a school- then I'd say you have good odds at HEC Montreal at 650 as the minimun- and that if you want to be competitive at a place like INSEAD having a 720 would help- no this is just rough thinking here- I know that people from India are in some of these schools with GMATs at or below avg- but you odds are best if you follow this rule of thumb. Then of course what you need to do next is SHINE in the rest of your application by knowing the school, talking to students and really understanding why you "fit" there. Consultants can help here- and if you want some advice with that- reach out for a free consult here:https://stratusadmissionscounseling.com/admissions/business-school-admissions-consulting-gmat-club-visitor/ 2. Among the schools mentioned above, where are are the most chances for me to get admitted (In other words, where should I apply)?
See my comments above for my logic on your best odds... HEC Montreal, HKUST, IMD, Judge.... with the toughest being INSEAD Good luck!
