A few additional insights jstar88:
  1. The transition you have made is pretty interesting. It does however split your career a bit with data science being about a year long? It will be important that you connect the dots well here to ensure that you get mileage from the entire experience. The nature of your work seems good given the promotions. Your post-MBA goals story will have to be articulated well too - consulting and Product Management can be pretty different beasts.
  2. Assuming India is an international geography for you, the diversity aspect in your profile is fantastic. This alone will make you an attractive candidate for European schools. But don't go there just for diversity alone. From a tech perspective, many would argue that US still remains the mecca.
  3. For reasons mentioned here, I would not hazard a gut-based guess on your school selection. But it doesn't look like you are new to the application scene so make sure you do your research well and apply accordingly.

Cheers,

thank you all for the quick reply and for taking the time to read. i'm still trying to figure out what my "x-factor" is and how I can stand out from the rest of the applicants who similarly have strong GPAs, extracurriculars, and work experiences.

the reason why i am looking to transition from data science to something in more of the management realm is because having worked and been more involved in the analytics of something much more product focused at google, ive realized the value of developing and honing in on those interpersonal and leadership skills needed to be a manager. i am quite confident that i have the technical background but am very interested in learning and applying more of the tactical soft skills provided by a business school education.

also, what is the best way to evaluating what schools I should apply to? I will admit that a lot of the initial school selection was influenced by rankings but are there others criterias I should be looking at?

my top school is stanford because of the tech scene in the bay area and is align with both my short term and long term goals of wanting to work in the tech sector. i also do know that wharton, for instance, specializes in finance (which was initially my hesitation to applying and consideration of swapping it out with haas).

any other specialities that specific schools are known for?

apologies for the incessant questions.
