Hey Aryan,

Profile wise you belong to the Top 15% - whether top 10 or 5 will depend on your exacr achievements and personal stories.

Goals wise you are spot on. Your profile feels like a great flt for product managamemt. Both program/project managers align very well with PM. Actually I would Mccombs to that list as well. We got a couple of scholarships with this storyline. However it might be too simple for your dream schools. You will have to 10x your goal and make PM a milestone along the way.

We actually specialize in helping such mba applicants - last year 4/20 candidates went with a PM story. My wife is a PM at Amazon (previously at Capital one) and I am a PM at Walmart). I know you see a lot of us consultants reaching out to you, and many of them are great of course... but please do have a chat with us! Aryan5 - some thoughts:

1. Your undergrad acads and GMAT score are good. It'd be crucial to have the right mix of Ambitious, Reach and Safe programs, based on factors such as these

2. Your work-ex sounds interesting, given the IB (Tech) experience, promotions and international exposure. Having worked in management consulting myself and mentored many MBA candidates with consulting/ PM goals, I can't emphasize more the importance of a strong narrative covering your journey, career goals and how/ why the MBA (and your target school) fits in.

3. Extracurriculars present good angles for essays. Make sure to bring out your holistic profile through the application.

Hi Aryan,

When do you plan to apply? this year or next year?

Overall, your profile looks great. The highlights for me are- top brand IB (which will open several doors for you), fast track promotions, international work experience, work with disability network (depends on what you have done here).

The GMAT score is average and your undergrad uni is not well known - while these don't give you any advantage, they don't harm either. That said, you will need to ensure that you submit compelling applications that make you stand out - even among other similar applicants who may score better than you on these two fronts. If possible retake GMAT for the dream US MBA programs

Goals- you have presented two starkly different options, so it will be important to get into the depth of your work experience and understand what could be a more plausible goals story. If you want to get into product management, then what is the rational behind it given your current work exp.? Have you worked on any products/ features at your job? If consulting (could be better aligned with your two designations) then what drives you for it? Your long term goals aligns with consulting as a short term goal, but not with product management. Overall, it would help to get some clarity on the resume and where that takes you. Also, whatever choice of goal you go ahead with in your apps, your resume will need to be constructed accordingly to show transferable skills.

Your b-school list has a mix of ambitious and at par b-schools- that's a good thing. Given your PM goals, I would question about IMD. I'd also question on IE and SDA. Why not include Cambridge instead? UCLA and Marshall could be great choices for PM. And as someone suggested, McCombs too.

Your application should show leadership skills across your professional history and your extra curricular activities (ECAs). The ECAs look attractive and I hope you have a few stories to highlight from here (Ross, Booth and NYU ask for non work related stories in addition to goals)
