Hi!
I would like to get your honest feedback as to what are my chances to get into my target schools considering that I’m a bit on the older side for a full time MBA and didn’t complete my undergrad until recently. Thanks in advance.
Male/32/Mexican-American (Dual Citizenship but lived most of my life in Mexico).
Work Experience: 10 years in the Oil and Gas Industry working for an S&P 500 company (NYSE:NE). I was involved in different areas of drilling operations offshore for the first half of my career, then held different positions working on new build and upgrade projects throughout the world in regions such as West Africa, Asia, Europe, and Brazil. I’m now based in Houston and I’m in charge of Asset Management and involved in different areas of Supply Chain.
GMAT: 700 (Q47 V39)
Education: BBA in Management, University of Texas of the Permian Basin. GPA 3.29. Graduated in 2015 and most of the coursework was completed online due to all the traveling I was doing.
Extras:
- Founded a waste management company in Mexico in 2011. The main focus was to help customers reduce waste and establish recycling programs within their organizations. I sold the company in 2014 to PASA, the largest waste management company in Mexico.
- Started a solar farm project in 2014 but was unsuccessful mainly because of lack of government support. The solar systems were donated to rural communities in North East Mexico.
- Active volunteering at the Houston Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity.
- Active volunteering at local organizations in Mexico focused on drilling water wells in rural communities and installing solar panels (Mainly as an advisor).
Target Schools In order of preference: Sloan, Stanford, Kellogg, Wharton, and McCombs.
Application: R1 2016 for all.
Post-MBA goal: Entrepreneurship with a focus on renewable energy and waste to energy projects.
Thank you!
