Hi, I was hoping to get inputs on my profile and suggested/realistic schools in US
Indian female, business and commerce student (graduated with honors)
Undergrad: Top 20%ile (first division ie highest division)
University: University of Delhi
CFA L3 candidate
GMAT 710 (v41 q47)
Working in MBB in Research and Expert path (consulting in specific domain)
4 years work ex ; multiple promotions with some project management experience
Co-curricular:
Organized Fests and events which had highest footfall
Been mentoring college students regularly; increased as covid hit
Part of College society for Women Development and 1 NGO for women’s rights
Post MBA: Pvt Equity Consulting/ strategy consulting
Any suggestions?

Thank you for sharing your profile. Your profile looks good on the surface. To begin with, your undergrad GPA is good, and you have a fine GMAT score. If you feel you can increase your score, you should do so; a score of 730 or above will maximize your chances. On the work front, I see a good career trajectory. You must demonstrate how you outperform your peers to get promoted. Highlighting the roles and responsibilities you've taken on, as well as the impact you've had on the organization, will showcase your potential. Your ECs and community involvement are also good. Explain it in such a manner that it reveals different aspects of your personality and enables AdComs to get to know you beyond your profession. Your post-MBA goals seem logical, yet this sounds ordinary. It is critical to present well-defined short-term and long-term future goals and explaining your motivation for pursuing an MBA. Also, let each school you are applying to know ‘why’ this program. The goal is to demonstrate that you've done considerable study and are making an informed decision to apply. You may want to read an article on how to frame practical post-MBA goals essays, you will get some insights on how to communicate the convincing case to the adcoms.
Overall, you have a decent profile. However, I'd like to learn more about your work profile (since you didn't share it extensively here) to determine your key USPs and guage your fit for the b-school. Thank you for sharing. Are there specific schools you are considering in the US? If you want to go into consulting post MBA or receive scholarships, increasing the GMAT score will be very important.
While a 710 is a solid GMAT score, if you are looking at the top 10-20 schools, you may want to maximize this score, as it is becoming less common to see large numbers of applicants with scores more than 20 to 30 points below average succeed.
Additionally, since you come from a competitive pool as an Indian applicant, differentiating yourself with a strong GRE/GMAT score will be even more important. You may need to score 20 to 30 points above the average to even be on the same playing field as other applicants.
Your work experience in MBB should situate you well. As a consultant, however, you have your work cut out for you to distinguish yourself from your peers. That said, it will be important to embrace your uniqueness. Do not write what you think admissions committee members want to read (there is no “ideal” candidate profile).
Instead, you will want to show the reader who you are and be sure to cover multiple aspects of your profile. While this does not mean you should provide a laundry list of details, discussing one or two unique skills, hobbies, extracurricular leadership roles, volunteer work or language skills will paint a clearer picture for admissions committee members of who you are and what unique value you can add to their next class. Given your list of co-curricular activities, you should have some good material to work with here.
