I have perhaps a rather elementary question but I was hoping someone may be able to assist me in visualizing the answer to question #166 from the 2019 OG:

"A certain characteristic in a large population has a distribution that is symmetric about the mean (m). If 68% of the distribution lies within one standard deviation (d) of the mean, what percent of the distribution is less than m+d?"

A - 16%
B - 32%
C - 48%
D - 84%
E - 92%

I attempted to answer the question by adding the mean (50%) and the std dev (68%) but of course that is not correct. I then took half the std dev (34%) added it to the mean and got 84%. The difference between 100% and 84% is 16% and I selected (A) on that basis. I apparently misread the question and am currently having a difficult time conceptualizing what the question is asking.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!
