Hello Team,
Can you please provide an honest profile review for me? I am really a novice when it comes to b-school admissions, and would love to get some professional advice from you
26-year-old Female from India
CGPA - 7.8 on a scale of 10
GMAT1 - 720 (Q48, V41)
GMAT2 - 730 (Q50, V39)
Work experience - 5 years total, 3 years as senior corporate trainer (in which I worked with the Program governance council to supervise the training of 600 employees, and trained 3000 professionals from entry to Project Manager level in wide range of technologies such as Database, Python, Java and Mainframes with top feedback of 4.8/5, ensuring efficient delivery for the projects worth USD 60 Million.)
2 years as PLM Consultant in a Swedish MNC (I have worked closely with developers and business consultants. The primary goal has been to provide effective PLM solutions to our customers, managing the product's bill of material and documentation, and developing software as a part of delivery team. Have spearheaded one of the largest projects of our organization(worth USD 2 million), and have developed an entire application from scratch to delivery, working closely with our customers and international clients)
Apart from this, I have also been a freelance nutrition consultant; I have worked with clients in my city and in India, consulting them in Nutrition and lifestyle changes. Have volunteered in an NGO here for a year, where our biggest mission was to reach out to impoverished children in the slums and teach them about nutrition and nourishment. We had organized one of the biggest community feeding project, where we cooked "millet porridge" for around 500 children because we believed that a well-nourished child has the potential to solve so many other problems.
Extra-curriculars -
I was always very good at communication. I won a lot of awards in declamation and debate contests (State and National Level). Had represented my college at inter-university Inter-University Chancellor's Cup Group Discussion contest, and had been rewarded by the Chief Minister and the Governor of a state.
Strengths: Excellent communication and people handling skills. Always a quick learner who likes to challenge herself.
Post-MBA Goals: I wish to hone my skills further. I have always liked dealing with clients, brainstorming ideas and discussing the best market strategies. I wish to join a reputed firm as a Market Analyst and use my skills to research and help in the best marketing of products.
Please advise on how to project this in a better manner. Deep down, I know that this is what I wish to do, but articulating in industry terms is tough
Schools I am looking at: The top 20 (US, UK preferably). Need help here. Some schools I really look forward too are: Yale SOM, NYU Stern, Tuck, Fuqua. Are these achievable? What can I highlight in my profile? Please advise on these schools.

Your GMAT is strong, though compared to others in your demographic, it is a bit below the average for the top MBA programs. I suggest taking it up to 3-4 times. You have nothing to lose since schools will only look at your highest score. And even a slight increase can boost your profile.
Your work experience is impressive, and it’s nice to see that you have trained so many employees, as well as the fact that you have led one of your firm’s largest projects. I also like your extracurriculars – your consulting as well as your volunteering. Make sure to really emphasize your leadership roles you have taken on both in and outside of work.
It will also be important to explain more specifically why you want your MBA – as well as the types of companies you will target - and to also illustrate the skills you already have which are transferable. Be sure your story makes sense, and is realistic and specific.
Top 20 schools (especially top 10 schools) will be tough, but you do have a chance. They are extremely competitive, and each school simply does not have the room to admit all the world's qualified applicants. For that reason, I suggest apply to several schools, including reach, target and safety. Be sure to emphasize the personal side of your stories, especially with training employees and your extracurriculars. Hopefully they will see that you have a compelling story and are someone who will add value to the classroom and community.
