Request for profile evaluation and prep guidance

Question

Hello,

I am 26 year old and having 4 year of work experience in automotive domain.I want to pursue one year executive MBA, which provide me better career growth and opportunity(mid management level tends to higher management) in the same field of automotive. I am planning to take GMAT in Feb 2015  and may go for admission in 2016. (Work exp. will be 5.5-6 year) as I am going for onsite 6 months Germany in 2015. Please guide me what more I need to add with the below mentioned profile. Also which college and country I should target.? I am only looking for one year programme.

Here is my profile:

VIIIth DAV Board, 2001: 80%
Xth CBSE, 2003, DAV : 87.2%
XIIth CBSE, 2005, DPS Ranchi: 54.4% (one of the low point of my career)
2005-06: Year drop for IIT jee prep
B.E. (ECE):2006-10, MIT, Aurangabad : 67.86% with Distinction
M.S.(AES): 2011-2013, Manipal University: 8.44 CGPA

Work –Experience: Total – 04years (sep 2014) will be 5.5 by admission
1. Sep,2010 – aug,2013: KPIT Technology Ltd. (7000+ employee, 25year ), Software Engineer (Automotive Domain)
– Development of AUTOSAR software for ECU.
– Clients: Hyundai, Mobis, Denso, Cherry,Fujitsu,AISIN
– Lead and trained the team of 4-5
– Good Customer Satisfaction score
2. Sep,2013-till now: Robert Bosch, Bangalore(3 Lakh + employee, 127 year)
Sr. Software Engineer((Automotive Domain))
– Development of AUTOSAR software.
– Providing solution for AUTOSAR OS to various customer in Bosch worldwide
– Training and leading a team of 2
– Developed an OS for internal project of Bosch to reduce cost and better performance.

Leadership activity::
 Organized a two day technical National Level event which had attracted an overwhelming 1500 entries from nationwide.
 Team Leader of my college team (9 member) in an International robotic contest i.e. ABU-ASIA PACIFIC ROBOTIC CONTEST-2009, TOKYO.
 Organized a two day workshop on Robotics & Automation based on AVR Microcontroller in my college which had attracted an overwhelming 100 entries from the region.
 Team Leader of my college team (24 member) in the International Robotic Contest i.e. ABU-ASIA PACIFIC ROBOTIC CONTEST-2010, CAIRO EGYPT.
 Active member of CSR activity since I started working. Volunteer activity for kids in under priviledged society by spending time on weekends with them by conducting activity and classes for them. I am also associated to Surajaya NGO, works for kids in slum area in pune.

I am new to this GMAT club and have least knowledge about the procedure. So please guide me about all important aspect.Also suggest me prep medium. I purchased Kaplan premiere. My quant is gud but doubt on verbal. Which is better way to prepare online or class. I am staying in bangalore INDIA.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading your profile and reviewed it similar to when I worked in admissions.

My answer is to apply to the full-time programs as you would be a strong candidate for these and may have a challenge in the Executive Programs. We have experience in working with MBA candidates specifically for Executive Programs but feel your profile is stronger for the Full-time. I would strongly suggest that you research the Full-time programs (top 15) in the US, Europe, and Asia. You will see the benefits of getting an MBA in a Full-time (FT) program versus an Executive Program (XP). Some of the differences between an XP vs. FT program, may include the age range of your fellow students, years of experience (10+), executive management tenure, pre-established networks, etc. You will also notice that in a 1 year program, you may not learn principles that are in-depth but more from a high-level perspective. In a FT program, you will learn the basics and have pre-term refresher courses in math, statistics, and other subject matters.

As for GMAT prep, I recommend using 2 different approaches or tools. Use a tool that is recommended for the verbal prep and choose one that is specifically recommended for the quant. prep. I find that this has been most beneficial to candidates in the past. Or you can have a tutor for one section and an online tool for the other section. Hope this helps.

Hello Sir,

Thanks for your valuable suggestion and guidance.
I have following querries:-
1. I am looking for Non US B-School. Can you please provide me the top list of colleges which i should target and the range of score? Also if possible please provide details on ranking , post grad salary and other factor w.r.t. Automotive domain.
2. GMAT prep: Which online course you recommend as it is mushroomed over the net. So please guide on that. Especially who have a great test series.
3. Opting for Non US college over US will have any impact on knowledge, exposure and post grad designation and salary? If yes then how much?

Thanks for your message. There are many resources and lists which you can access to obtain all of the information about any MBA program. For example, you can visit US News & World Report or Businessweek MBA rankings to get the most accurate information.

Also, I would recommend LBS, Judge, ISB, IIM-B and NTU if you are looking for programs outside of the US as you mentioned.

I appeared in kaplan adaptive test as per gmat pattern.
Score: 530 (Q47, V15)
Need guidance to improve verbal.
Please suggest the best course for non native student. i am planning to take up GMAT in feb 2015.
