Hello All,

Today, I received RICE interview invite. Just as I was finishing my Olin interview, I got an e-mail from RICE. I will go for skype option as I believe it gives one an opportunity to interact in a more active manner as opposed to phone interview. Date is not finalized yet but it should be sometime next week.

Admitted/ Interviewed candidates: Please share your experiences.

Interview is with a 2nd year student and is blind, meaning they only look at your resume.
It's all about fit. Other than that it's standard questions. Why MBA?, Rice, team/leadership? I just made sure to listen when my interview spoke and then made the point to expand on common experiences or thoughts. This went well as it turned the interview into a conversation with the "interview questions" coming in between our other topics of discussion. Good luck!

I had my interview today, went well i think..

Questions were general - career history, leadership experiences, team work experiences..

My tip to prepare for the interview is go over your resume and essays!

Rice interviews most of its applicants and everyone who is admitted is interviewed. I would treat the interview with as much signifigance as any other aspect of the application, maybe more so. Rice has a small class and therefore fit is a very important factor.

Anyone know how long it takes to have a decision after the interview?

I know R2 decisions will all be made by Feb 24, but do they not send their decisions earlier?

Based on last year and R1 this year they will probably begin to notify on the 22nd for internationals and nationals on the 23rd. But that doesn't mean that is what will happen this round.

Did you hear that most of Rice's applicants are interviewed from someone at the school or see it on the website somewhere? I saw someone mentioned it in last year's thread, but I couldn't find it anywhere else. Thanks, mlftxagg!

I have heard that Rice interviews most of its applicants from the admissions team and others who are familiar with the process.

Running for R3 and noticed a big issue today....
For the Rice essay 3, there are 3 options and 2 of them are
- What is the best mistake you have ever made? Include its impact on you and how it altered your view of the world.
- Describe a defining moment or event that changed your life.

Anyboday knows if these two requires mistakes/moment/event happened recently (say, in last three years) or it can be any time in my life?
Thanks...

I am an International applicant. I had my Rice interview on 9th Feb. Interview was good. Did via skype. It went on for 30 minutes. However, I was bit late for the interview. How stupid of me! I hope this does not kill my application. Actually, I had an avoidable time zone mix up. I apologised my interviewer. Even I called up admission counsellor - Lolita C Murray and apologised for the delay start. I confessed that I had time zone mix up. Can you guys throw some light on this topic? How the delay start will be taken? Moreover, Rice is my top choice.

The questions are framed as to have you discuss your biggest mistake or life changing moment. So do not worry about when it happened. However, make sure that whenever it happen its effects are continuing to make you better.

Congratulations to all who have received calls :)

If you received a call, was the status updated on the Rice Application?

Also, are you an international student or US?

I haven't received a call, I also logged onto my application and it still says under review :( not sure if that's a good or bad sign!!
